Third Sunday of Easter Page 7
Hello Friends,
Easter blessings to all of you!
Today’s Gospel reminds us that we are all on a journey…
Our journey of marriage began more than 34 years ago. We have been blessed by our gracious God with 4beautiful children (all married to wonderful people) and 4 adorable grandsons. Our life is abundant and full ofmuch love and joy!
It began as a journey of two; married, not knowing what to expect. The only thing for certain was that we had thelove and support of family and friends, and we were very aware of our commitment to each other and to God.
During our marriage preparation process, our priest reminded us that we are called to put our priority in God andour spouse before our individual needs and desires. There were times when keeping these priorities in order hasbeen a challenge.
As we brought our children into the world, we experienced those moments when we felt lost and even alone. Itwas especially during those times when we leaned heavily on our marriage vows and came to learn thatcontinuing to move forward together was in itself a great gift.
There have been countless moments of joy: vacations, first communions, confirmations, graduations, weddingsand Sunday afternoon gatherings. We’ve also experienced sorrows: death of loved ones, loss of jobs. We have allwalked this journey.
The blessing has always been that we, as a sacred married couple, were united and we knew that ourcommitment was so much stronger than any challenges we faced.
As we reflected on today’s Gospel, we can easily see how the journey of our marriage parallels the journey ofthe two disciples on the road to Emmaus. God has been always with us, whether we recognized His presence ornot.
When we get too caught up in the details of our daily routines, it’s harder to see God in our midst. But, it’s alsoduring those same challenges when God brings wonderful, loving people into our lives that we come torecognize His presence.
As we all continue our Easter journey as disciples, may we come to know the RisenLord in our daily encounters with all those He puts on our “road to Emmaus.”
Blessings,
Deacon Joe and Kim Torti

Reflection questions for every gathering around any table. When we share meals, Christ sits among us.Listening to the Word: Luke 24:1335What image in this familiar story touches my heart? What do I noticeabout the characters in this story?Looking into My LifeThe disciples recognized Jesus in the breaking of bread. How have Iexperienced Jesus at Mass, in the breaking of the Eucharistic bread? How have I experienced Jesus at meals and with friends and family?
