Dr Guen Uck Chang is an internationally renowned Rhinoplasty & facial cosmetic surgeon from Seoul, Korea who happens to be the co-director of the popular "Shimmian rhinoplasty clinic". He is the fellowship director at the clinic & has successfully trained many youngsters in the field of rhinoplasty. He has to his credit innumerable articles most notably multiple contributions in "Plastic & reconstructive surgery" which is a leading journal. He has also contributed to many text-books nationally & internationally. He is also a teaching faculty at Korean cosmetic surgery society where they hold regular hands on training workshops

Dr Venkat Srinivasan is a Consultant ENT/Thyroid Surgeon at Arrowe Park Hospital, Wirral, UK who is

trained in Middle ear surgery, Thyroid & parathyroid surgery as well as Snoring & sleep apnoea surgery.

He has a fellowship in Otology at the University of western Australia, Perth amongst others. He has been

instrumental in setting up & successfully running the "Neck lump clinic" at Wirral. He has many

publications from early on in his career most notable contributions being to Laryngoscope, Journal of

otology & laryngology etc.

Professor Gunesh Rajan, is an international renowned authority for skull base tumors and hearing implant surgery. He completed his Otolaryngology training at the ENT Dept., University Hospital Zurich, (under Prof. Ugo Fisch & Prof. Stephan Schmid), followed by head & neck as well neurotology and skull base fellowships in Barcelona and Perth. He is currently appointed as Professor & Head of Otolaryngology, Head & Neck Surgery at the University of Western Australia in Perth. His clinical practice focuses on head & neck/skull base tumors, hearing restoration and hearing implant surgery. He currently is the principal investigator of an international multicentre trial investigating the applications of piezosurgery in the skull base and head & neck.

Dr Shabbir Indorewala has a keen interest in otology & has popularized the Endomeatal Tympanoplasty technique for which he is very well known. His research on fascia was invited for presentation at 1st international fascia research foundation at Harvard University in 2007. He is best known for his original research work on "Dimensional Stability of the Free Fascia Grafts", which included animal experiments. These research papers have been published in "The Laryngoscope". He also holds the record in Limca book of records for maximum number of stitch less ear surgeries.

Dr. Ravi Deo who has trained at Tata Memorial Hospital, developed a keen interest in the field of Head & Neck Surgery which lead him to obtain a Diploma in the same at the prestigious Institute Gustave Roussy in Paris, France where he also worked as a consultant.He established the first exclusive Head & Neck Oncology Dept, at Kidwai Memorial Institute of Oncology, Bangalore in 1985. He subsequently established the Dept, of Surgical Oncology in Manipal Hospital, Bangalore where he is currently a consultant. Interested in teaching and academics, apart from giving numerous lectures and orations he has also conducted live surgical demonstrations at clinical meetings within the country and abroad. Dr. Deo was awarded the Rajiv Gandhi Excellence Award in 1996 and the Kempegowda Award in 2006 for his contributions to the field of Head & Neck Surgery in India.

Padmashree Dr Milind V Kirtane does not need any introduction to an ENT surgeon. He is a name well known in every ENT surgeon's dictionary. He has successfully initiated many cochlear implant centers across the country & trained many students selflessly who have now occupied some of the highest chairs in the ENT departments across the country & abroad. He has also popularized endoscopic sinus surgery in India. Known to be the teacher of teachers, he is a magnanimous personality.

Dr Ashesh Bhumkar is a dynamic ENT surgeon with a special interest in Otology & pinna reconstructive surgery. He heads the Bhumkar Hospital in Thane which is known as the "Indian ear factory" by pinna reconstructive surgeons abroad. Also popularly referred to as the Father of Pinna reconstructive surgery in India, over the years he has risen to become one of the top 10 pinna reconstructive surgeons in the world today. An enthusiastic teacher, a passionate doctor & above all a gentle & caring human being..

Dr Narayan Jaishankar is a consultant ENT, Neurotology & Lateral skull base surgeon at the popular Balabhai Nanavati hospital, Mumbai. He has recently authored a book called “Atlas of Lateral Skull Base Surgery”, published by Theme. He has been an invited faculty to over 150 workshops in India & has been a speaker at many national & international events. He has been a reviewer for the highly acclaimed Journal of Neurology, Neurosurgery and Psychiatry; Frontiers in Surgery- section Otolaryngology, Head Neck Surgery, IJOHNS etc.

Dr Jaykumar Menon is a well-known name in the laryngology circle. He is a consultant laryngologist at KIMS Trivandrum & also runs a very successful swallowing clinic as well. He is an exceptional academician & has described an ingenious sign to diagnose abductor spasmodic dysphonia. He has contributed chapters to two textbooks & has many publications in his name -both national & international. He has been invited to over 200 workshops nationwide to speak on laryngology & has been invited repeatedly to the World Voice congress.

Dr Satish Jain is a consultant ENT & skull base surgeon heading the Jain ENT hospital in Jaipur which has the highest number of ENT patient input in Asia & probably the world. He is known for his prowess in Endoscopic skull base & microscopic lateral skull base surgery. He runs a very successful surgical skills training programme at his hospital for residents & has represented India at numerous International academic events. He is an astute academician who places a lot of stress on evidence based practise & is a wonderful teacher.

Dr C Rayappa is an ENT-Head & Neck and Skull base surgeon working at Apollo Speciality Hospital, Chennai from 1995. He graduated from Madras Medical College and had his training in ENT in UK. His main interest lies in head & neck tumour surgery and skull base (anterior, lateral & endoscopic) surgery. He has been performing transnasal endoscopic pituitary surgery since 1997. In the last decade, he has developed special interest in open and endoscopic nasopharyngectomy for recurrent nasopharyngeal carcinoma.

Dr Vidyasagar Ramakrishnan is the director of Sagar ENT-Head & Neck Center & also works as an associate professor at the NRI Medical College & General Hospital, Guntur. He was a gold medallist during his post-graduation after which he trained in the USA with fellowships in Sleep apnoea surgery, Advanced Head & Neck and Microvascular Reconstructive Surgery & Pediatric Otolaryngology. He has numerous awards & medals to his credit & has also been invited to many academic events all over India to share his experiences.

Dr Madhuri Mehtha is currently working as the Director and Head of ENT Department at N.C. Jindal Institute of Medical Care & Research Institute. She has a keen interest in Otology & has successfully conducted many workshops all over India in Otology alongside her teacher Dr K P Morwani. She has also been a speaker at many national & international forums in her speciality. She has co-authored the book “Atlas of Lateral Skull Base Surgery”.

Dr Jayaprakash Reddy is a popular ENT surgeon from Kurnool who has trained in pediatric airway diseases from Barcelona, Spain & has also trained in Micro ear surgery from France. He has to his credit 11 Gold medal awards at various State, south zone & national levels. He has a large series on pediatric airway foreign bodies. He regularly conducts temporal bone & sheep head workshops at Kurnool & is an exceptional teacher. He has many publications in various national journals.

Dr Madhusudhan Rao is presently based in Nandyal, Andhra Pradesh & heads the Madhumani nursing home. He has been a gold medallist from his undergraduate days & is an Alumnus of the popular PGI, Chandigarh. He is very well known for his interest in endoscopic sinus surgery & has conducted many basic & advanced workshops on ESS at his center & is a passionate teacher. He is also a philanthropist & funds the schooling of many poor children in his village. He offers healthcare to people at an affordable cost.

Dr Virendra Ghaisas is the director of MIMER medical college in Talegaon. He received his Fellowship in Rhinoplasty at the Marien Hospital; Stuttgart where he was trained by Professor Gubisch. He has been a speaker & operating faculty at many national & international events most notable being at the Gubisch Rhinoplasty Workshop in Stuttgart in 2012. He regularly conducts rhinoplasty workshops at his medical college.

Dr Shirish Ghan has a keen interest in Sialendoscopy & has recently authored two chapters in the first hand book on Sialendoscopy to be published in September 2015 by The European Sialendoscopy Training Center. He has shared his vast experience in this field at many international platforms such as in Geneva, Dubai etc. He has also been an invited faculty at many national & international events & is one of the pioneers in the field of sialendoscopy in India & the world.

Dr Navin Patel is an extrememly proactive ENT surgeon who runs a successful cochlear implant programme in Gujrat. He has to his credit the largest series in coblator assisted surgeries in India & has been a mentor to many beginners in coblation surgery. His other fields of interest include voice surgery & Sinus surgery. He has many publications in national & international journals & is frequently invited to several workshops nationwide to share his experiences.

During the older era, the doctor treated diseases to the best of his knowledge & the patient was blissfully ignorant of the sciences. There was no questioning the knowledge of the doctor. But today, with the technology leaping ahead every day, knowledge has been bought closer to the masses making them more aware & well informed. The newer developments in the medical field have pushed the limits of our ability to deal with the more critical cases & this has increased the expectations from our patients as regards "Guarantee" from our treatment. This panel discussion entails to discuss this aspect of medicine from various angles by involving different sectors such as the media representatives, medico legal lawyers, Judge, Police commissioner & of course the doctors perspective. We aim to gain an insight into what laws can help safe guard doctors & what protocols can be followed to avoid undue assault & property damage to health care professionals.

How to plan, execute & publish meaningful, scientifically valid and beneficial research? The symposium hopes to stimulate young otolaryngologists to take up scholastic and academic roles in the institutes they work. The topics which will be covered are

Association of Otolaryngologists of India, karnataka Chapter is happy to announce TWO Traveling Fellowships in ENT-Head & Neck Surgery of Rs. 10,000 each

to its associate members for the year 2015-16. This is reserved for final year MS (ENT) degree student pursuing the course in any post- graduate medical college

in Karnataka and should be less than 35 years of age. She/he should not be a recipient of any other traveling fellowship in the past. The duration of the fellowship

will be for 15 days in any institute of repute in India as chosen by the candidate. Once selected, the candidate will have to apply to the institute where he/she

desires to pursue the fellowship and will have to make their own arrangements of accommodation and transport.

Those desirous of the fellowship should send the following documents to address given below so as to reach by 10th September 2015.

1. Application in plain paper mentioning the Karnataka AOI membership number and a statement that they satisfy above mentioned eligibility criteria

2. Curriculum vitae.

3. Bonafide and no objection certificate from the head of the department, where the candidates presently studying.

4. Copy of the receipt of registration to AOIKCON 2015.

Selection is done by the traveling fellowship selection committee by verification of the documents during the AOIKCON 2015 and selected candidates will be called for an interview prior to the general body meeting in the conference. After completion of the fellowship, the candidate is expected to write a brief account about the fellowship he/she received, endorsed by the head of the institute wherein the fellowship was pursued. This should be submitted within 1 month after the fellowship along with the claim for remuneration. Fellowship certificate and award amount will be issued by Karnataka AOI subsequently.
