Creating a Culture of Evidence & Continuous Improvement
The College at Brockport’s Division of Enrollment Management and Student Affairs is committed to improving program effectiveness and the
quality of the student experience through assessment data. The use of assessment data will contribute to the culture of evidence within each
department and the overall campus community. This section will highlight the use of data to close the loop in the assessment process.

number of students who sign-up/participate in SOS.
Orientation sessions are the primary opportunity we
have to have face to face interaction with incoming
students prior to SOS
SOS has had very low numbers of transfer/off-

campus student participation. This may be a result of
the format of transfer orientation or because the
majority of the students above are un-interested in
coming back to campus on Saturday for SOS
SOS has had a very low number of Alumni as
participants. A working relationship with Alumni
Affairs must be established

2012-2013 Closing the Loop Summary Report
The following report outlines the assessment tools used and data compiled in regard to no more than three departmental/office goals from 2012-
2013. It will also highlight the proposed action items and recommendations for the next year, 2013-2014.
Saturday Of Service 2012-2013 Goal: To increase the number of enrolled full-time, first year students participating in SOS. Assessment Tool and Data: A paper and pencil survey was administered to SOS student participants at the end of their volunteer experience.
Students received the survey form on the bus ride back to campus.
Tool Used: Paper and pencil survey. Data/Results: 775 student participants completed the SOS survey out of 944. This was the highest response rate since the beginning of SOS. Among
the 775 students who took the SOS survey, 90% of the students communicated having engaged in conversation with someone new during SOS. Among
the 775 students who took the SOS survey, 92% communicated walking away having learned something about a community organization. Among the
775 students who took the SOS survey 91% were able to communicate how their service impacted the community.
Summary/Conclusions: Overall SOS met its goal of increasing the participation of full-time, first-year students participating in SOS.
Recommendations: (1.)Find ways to engage more Brockport Alumni in Saturday of Service as Team Leaders or Parking Lot Volunteers.(2.)Provide
an opportunity for students to engage in interfaith service projects.(3.)Input data from evaluations into Baseline.(4.)Develop virtual training
materials for Team Leaders and send out over the summer.
Proposed Action Items for the next year: (1.)Work with Alumni Relations Director to develop a system for getting Brockport Alumni to participate
as volunteers during SOS.(2.)Develop assessments for on/off-campus partners and team leaders/parking lot volunteers.(3.)Create a list of service
projects hosted by interfaith organizations.(4.)Revise online registration system to include Quick-Reg & myBROCKPORT.
Interfaith Connections 2012-2013 Goal: Provide leadership to the US President’s initiative related to interfaith dialogue on college campuses Assessment Tool and Data: A combination of online surveys and paper & pencil surveys were administered throughout the semester at the
completion of each program. Response rates were very low within the online surveys; therefore a switch was made to paper & pencil. as a result,
there was a 50% increase in our respondent rates.
Tool Used: A combination of online surveys and paper & pencil surveys Summary/Conclusions: Overall the programming efforts above provided opportunities for students to engage in different forms of religious
diversity. Rather than having Interfaith Connections as a standalone program, it would be better served to infuse the concept of interfaith into other
areas of programs and services around campus.
Recommendations: Discontinue participation within the President’s Interfaith and Community Service Challenge (PICSC). 90% of the programming
items submitted for the PICSC Mid-Year Report were service related.
Proposed Action Items for the next year: Continue serving as an interfaith resource for the College and community.

2012-2013 Briefing Book
The Briefing Book is separate from your Annual Report in that it is somewhat of “brag book” that will highlight goals and accomplishments for
each department. The Briefing Book entry is a consolidated version of your annual report highlights. Please indicate below which information you
would like included. Please keep in mind that there is room in the Briefing Book for each department to have about two pages; therefore, the
information provided on your Annual Report should be consolidated significantly to just include the most significant highlights.
