Physical Education (PE) STATIC BALANCES – soldier, arms out wide, rocket (up on toes), left leg, right leg, kneeling soldier, hands and knees – lifting opposite leg/arm. Repeat for both sides. Remember these are STRONG & STILL – like a statue. WARM UP – Use a dice, or a pack of cards, or write the numbers 1 – 10 on paper to select a random number between 1 & 10. Once you have your number perform the following actions.

jumping jacks tuck jumps toe taps Select a new number for each warm-up exercise. IMPROVE YOUR SKILL – CATCHING & BALL TOSS. These skills progress in difficulty. You do not need to be able to perform all skills perfectly, but should be aiming to improve YOUR skill level. Use a handball, tennis ball or even some scrunched up leftover Easter egg wrappers. Begin with your dominant (favourite) hand. Toss the ball into the air – just over head height – and catch it with the hand that you threw it with. Repeat until you have successfully caught the ball 10 times in a row. If you find it difficult, reduce the height that you are tossing the ball into the air. If it is still too difficult, toss the ball with one hand and catch with two hands, but remember you are aiming to be able to catch it with one hand as you improve your skill level.

Remember to keep watching the ball all the way up into the air and back into your hand. Repeat with your non dominant hand. Repeat the exercise, but this time after tossing the ball into the air, clap once before you catch the ball – still catching it with one hand only. Repeat with your non dominant hand. Perform the exercise again, but this time after tossing the ball into the air, turn around once before you catch the ball – still catching it with one hand only. Repeat with your non dominant hand.
