Vivekananda. These and many other inspiring,

vibrant words of this Hindu Monk have left and

continue to leave a lasting impact on generations

of independent India.

It was no different in the case of

Sri Krishna J. Palemar and in the year 2012, Vikas

Pre-University College under the aegis of Vikas

Education Trust was born. Teachers were trained

into fine tuned human resources, empowering

Vikas Education Trust was registered in the year 1993 at Mangaluru

by Sri Krishna J. Palemar – Visionary. Philanthropist. Social Activist.

And a former Cabinet Minister, Government of Karnataka.

Sri Palemar understood quality education was the need of the 90s,

and inducted select qualified and competent into the Trust.

Their far sight and thinking ahead of times soon gave birth to

Vikas Group of Institutions and as a maiden venture the

Vikas College of Physiotherapy started functioning in the same

year. The college offered Bachelors and Masters Programs, and

soon emerged as a premier institution.

Inspired by its ‘Physiotherapy’

success, the Trust sought to reach

out and found there was an acute

shortage of quality pre-university

colleges in Mangaluru midst a

burgeoning zest of parents from rest

of Karnataka to send their wards to

Value added coursesConsidering the challenges of the corporate

world, the college has taken steps to train

the students in value added courses so as to

develop their resourcefulness.

Eligibility: A pass in SSLC or equivalent

examination with 45% marks. Of the total

available seats, 50% are reserved for

management quota, where selection will be

made on merit basis, as decided by the

management. The remaining 50% seats

will be filled as per admission rules framed

by the PU Board, Bengaluru / Government

of Karnataka.

Vikas Pre-University College is a private unaided affiliated

to the Karnataka State Pre-University Board, Bengaluru.

The medium of instruction is English. The College admits both

boys and girls who pass in SSLC or equivalent examination

(ICSE, CBSE, NRI and Foreign Students)

with 45% marks or corresponding grades.

The College offers two year Pre-University courses with the following subject combinations.

Languages: English

Kannada / Hindi / Sanskrit

Merit seats selection will be made as per the

rules framed by the PU Board, Bengaluru /

Government of Karnataka. The selected

candidates will be asked to meet the Principal

along with their parents. Every parent seeking

admission for his / her son / daughter should

produce the following:

Original marks card / Provisional marks card

(signed by the school H.M.) from the previous

school with one attested copy. For ICSE, CBSE,

NRI and Foreign Students it is the original with

2 attested copies.

Transfer certificates from the previous school.

Students from districts other than Dakshina

Kannada shall get this certificate countersigned

by the Block Educational Officer of their

respective region. In the case of students from

outside Karnataka State, the DDPI has to

countersign. Submission of Conduct Certificate

from the previous school is compulsory.

Colour Photographs - Passport Size - 10 nos,

with name printed on it.

Attested copy of caste certificate and income

certificate (Applicable to SC/ST/Group I 2A, 2B,

3A & 3B candidates only).

Eligibility certificate and Migration certificate -

only for ICSE, CBSE, NRI and Foreign students.

Admission of Foreign Nationals is subject to:

Meeting eligibility requirment as laid down by the

Directorate of PU Board, Bengaluru.

Obtaining ‘No Objection Certificate’ from the Ministry of

Human Resoruce Development (Dept. of Education)

Government of India.

Possession of valid passport and student visa for the

period of study in the Institution.

Candidates passed in the qualifying examination outside

the country shall be admitted to the course only on

production of a provisional Eligibility Certificate, issued by

the Board. They shall obtain such a certificate from the

Directorate, Dept. of PU Education, Bengaluru.

Parents of such students may seek guidance from our

Office Superintendent in this regard.

Group I Group II

Note: Students are advised to choose their second language - Kannada / Hindi / Sanskrit - only if they have studied the language in their high school years (Stds. 8th, 9th & 10th).

Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, Biology (PCMB)

Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, Computer Science (PCMC)

Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, Statistics (PCMS)

Business Studies, Accountancy, Statistics, Basic Maths (BASBm)

ADMISSION

Note: The students are informed to keep with them at least

5 attested copies of the original documents submitted to the

college at the time of the admission as the originals will not be

returned till admission is approved / completion of the course.


FEES All the fees for first year must be paid at the time of admission and fees for II year, immediately after announcement of I PU results. The fee structure is as per the directions given by the Management and is based on the guidelines given by Karnataka PU Board.

Examinations and Tests

Periodic examinations are conducted to assess the student’s assimilation of the subject and to enhance performance. The number of examinations are as follows:

Four monthly tests of 25 marks each and 4 tests of 20 marks each.

One terminal examination for I PU, two preparatory examinations for II PU and PU Board exams for both I and II PU students.

The academic work is supervised at four levels by the Principal, the Academic Advisor, Student Counsellor and a team of Class Guides.

Attendance

Attendance is taken at the commencement of each period and the student who is not in the class is marked absent for the period.

As per the regulations of the Board of Pre-University Education, Bengaluru, students attending less than 75% classes in any subject will

not be allowed to take the Annual Examination / Board Examination. Leave of absence can be taken only when it is granted by the Principal.

Ethics and Personal Integrity Classes

Ethics and personal integrity classes help students to identify their value systems so as to develop into individuals who are capable of living principle-centred lives.

Career Guidance Program

Career Guidance Program is conducted for the II PU students along with their parents. Subject experts from various fields are invited as resource persons.

Rules of Discipline and Conduct

The students are required to observe the following rules and regulations in addition to those that are in vogue from time to time by the college administration. Students must wear the college uniform daily in a neat and presentable manner.

Details of uniform will be informed to the students and parents after completion of admission formalities.

Other Rules

Every student has to possess and wear an identity card which should be produced whenever demanded by any member of the staff of the college.

Students should be punctual and regular to classes. They should be seated in the class room before the teacher enters. Leave of absence should be obtained from the Principal / Student Welfare Officer, well in advance. Unforeseen absence must be justified on return before entering the class.

Unauthorized absence from classes will attract fine at the rate fixed from time to time by the college administration.

Students are not allowed to loiter / congregate in the corridors or in the campus during working hours. They should move from one class room to another in a disciplined manner without causing disturbances to other classes.

No student shall leave the class room during the lecture except with permission.

Irregularity in attendance, habitual inattention, inappropriate behaviour, obscenity in word or act, damage to college properties like books, furniture, equipment are punishable by any one of the following, depending on the gravity of the offence. Warning with intimation to parents / guardian, Fine, Suspension (No attendance will be given during the period of suspension) Expulsion.

Those who indulge in ragging or encourage it will be expelled from the college. Students shall not indulge, either individually or collectively in any form of activity that will bring down the good name of the Institution. The Management's decision in this regard shall be final.

Students shall not enter the laboratories except with the permission of the lecturer in charge.

Students shall not take part in political agitations, public movements directed against the authority of Government /

Management.

No religious festival / function is allowed to be celebrated in the college premises.

Students are prohibited from bringing mobile phones and 2 wheelers or 4 wheelers to the college campus.

For all legal matters / disputes arising out of provisions of this prospectus, the court of jurisdiction will be Mangaluru only.

To Parents / Guardians The parents and guardians are earnestly requested to keen in touch with the Principal / Academic Advisor / Student Counsellor / Student Welfare Officer / Class Guide from time to time regarding the progress and the conduct of their ward and meet the concerned lecturer at least once in a month.
