• Discuss the difference between OPCON and ADCON :

• Operational Control (OPCAON) is the command or commander in charge of the overall operation of

forces. Their duties are to ensure the assigned mission is achieved through the use of forces

assigned to the current operation.

• Administrative Control (ADCON) is the commander in charge of the individual unit’s administrative

needs to include issuance of orders, pay and personnel issues, as well as issuance of directives and

awards. During any given operation the Administrative Controlling authority will have the duties of

logistical support as well as personnel support.

• f. Joint Space Operations Center JFCC-SPACE: through its Joint Space Operations Center (JSpOC),

detects, tracks, and identifies all man-made objects in Earth orbit. Crews work around the clock

constantly tracking these objects. They task the Space Surveillance Network (SSN), a worldwide

network of 29 space surveillance sensors (radar and optical telescopes, both military and civilian) to

observe the objects. The crews use computers to match sensor observations to the more than 22,000

man-made orbiting objects and update the position of each one. These updates form the Space

Catalog, a comprehensive listing of the numbers, types, and orbits of man-made objects in space.

• g. NOAA: National Oceanographic Atmospheric Administration provides weather, hydrologic, and

climate forecasts and warnings for the United States, its territories, adjacent waters and ocean areas,

for the protection of life and property and the enhancement of the national economy. NWS data and

• The National Air Space Intelligence Center, with headquarters at Wright-Patterson AFB.

Ohio, is the primary Department of Defense producer of foreign aerospace intelligence.

NASIC develops its products by analyzing all available data on foreign aerospace forces

and weapons systems to determine performance characteristics, capabilities,

vulnerabilities, and intentions. Center assessments are also an important factor in

shaping national security and defense policies. As the DoD experts on foreign

aerospace system capabilities, the center historically has also been involved in

supporting American weapons treaty negotiations and verification.
