by Daniel Claridge

It’s hard to believe that only four years ago we navigated halls with ceilings and stopped at working lockers to drop off burdensome books. At the time — 2005 to be exact — we found ourselves amidst an unfamiliar environ-ment ruled by the laws of clique-dom and brand name clothing. Today, despite physical, emo-tional and mental changes (no more fear of getting stuffed in odd crevices), we maintain that sense of excited anticipation, standing before a new wealth of opportunities and choices. I don’t mean to romanticize a difficult process, and in doing so, forget the struggle that de-fines our high school experience. Getting here was no easy task. Along the way, we were forced to deal with demanding parents, tough curriculums, standardized tests in sweaty gymnasiums, pesky zits, inconsistent vending machines, a wealth of dust-relat-ed fire alarms, and authoritative but well-intended campus super-visors. But dwelling on nostal-gic tales of heroism (and in some cases, stupidity) would distract from the more important point. What’s significant is that we’ve survived, perhaps by miracle but more likely by our own persever-ance, made more enthusiastic by our successes and more resilient by our failures.

It is with this pride in perseverance that we publish a Senior Supplement to the Warrior each year. Included in the next four pages is a list of all graduating students, next to their future plans after high school. The purpose of this list is twofold; not only is it a source of admiration for the path we’ve piloted, it’s an important reminder of what we’ve accomplished thus far, and what we’re capable of accomplishing given more opportunity and time. Amidst a busy conclusion to the school year, it gives excuse to abandon personal pursuits and marvel at our achievements and dream of future possibilities. In our self-indulgence and per-sonal pride, let us not forget those who helped us along the way. To all our teachers — laud-able words are not enough. Your persistence and occasional bluntness kept us balanced and directed. All administrators, staff and supervisors should share this commendation for their sup-port and tenacity. Our parents and guardians deserve a final thanks for giving us both the structure to maintain focus and the independence required for personal growth. Compiling this list and pub-lishing it with such expediency comes at the credit of a select few individuals. I’d like to extend a more pointed thank you to fellow

Senior Warrior editors Samit Dh-aria, Craig Dudek, Corey Guil-mette, and Kevin Kurtzner for their contributions and research. Additional thanks goes out to Mrs. Gagnon, who provided im-portant logistical information, and Molly O’Donnell, who com-piled a preliminary list on score-sup.com. Lastly, I’d like extend a special thanks to Warrior ad-visors James Edgar and Russell McDowell, whose continued ded-ication has made both the school newspaper and this senior sup-plement a consistent reality. On behalf of the other Senior editors of this publication, I hope that you enjoy this list in excess. Pin it to your wall, highlight your name, fold it into a paper crane and give it to your grandmother. In the past, our names only ap-peared on scantron sheets and faded hallway passes. In a mat-ter of days, they’ll appear on a high school diploma. In the end, words cannot communicate our shared feeling of potential and ex-citement — that enthusiastic rise that comes with the prospect of undetermined paths and unpar-alleled adventure. While it’s easy to dwell on the next big challenge and agonize over future choices, I hope, in the time it takes to read the following pages, that we can rejoice in our achievements and take pride in possibility. Enjoy!

I, John Qiao, would like to leave my rock-hard abs to Luke Anap-olis, my bulging biceps to Joel Shapiro, and my woman-attract-ing abilities to Alex Colborn.

I, Daniel Stone, do hereby be-queath the Little Theater and all its contents to Manuel Berduc, on the condition that he grows a full beard before I leave for col-lege. To the Junior class, I leave the Senior Lot, since they already act like it’s theirs anyway. Caro-line Brown will hereby have sole custody of all dudes (you’re wel-come, Cathy). To Alex Colborn, I leave the responsibility of trying to outdo my senior year, and the disappointment of being unable to do so. Finally, to my loving wife, Ari Hiller, I leave fondest re-gards and a crippling debt of 40 million dollars (Sorry babe, Neil’s a gas guzzler).

We, the seniors of “The Spot” (EK, AZ, AN, AV, DM, HO, MP, RP, BC, JH, ER, CV, RM, RK, CD, MM, LB, SC, LD, BL, DP, LN), hereby bequeath “The Spot” to Jason Kasman, who may keep “The Spot” for him and his friends, or may choose to give “The Spot” to another deserving candidate. Jason Kasman is the best freshman everrr!

I, Sara Corderman, would like to leave the oboe section to Ve-ronica — keep it classy. To nina, after-chemistry-rapping-dance-parties, and to Morgan and Britt-ney, of course, the viola.

I, Daniel Mark Claridge (The reverend DMC), would like to leave my widely-acclaimed ro-mancing ability to Dylan Reilly, a freshman with more style, swag-ger and street credit than 50 cent. To Señora Gardener, per-haps my favorite spanish teacher whose last name is also a blue

collar profession, I leave the responsibility of lur-ing kind seniors into new resource centers in an attempt to suddenly kick them out in front of oth-er colleagues. To Nikki Horgen, I leave the gum under my various desks (and the cool drawings I found etched in them); to Christopher Perrella, my animating abilities; to Chris Murphy, noth-ing. In addition, I leave the evidence of my gym class efforts — a stained, sweaty, ripped teeshirt — to the ball-hog fresh-man in my first block gym class who always wears a red hat and who can’t catch a football in the most important pressure situations. Lastly, I leave Robby Frederick with all the bologna from the New Cafeteria that I never had the courage to try.

I, Roshal R Patel, leave Cath-oderaytube Spanish Scrabble, and the ability to drive down entire streets in reverse, Jcolbs Team Optimist; Casey/Froggy/Manu the responsibility of being the next generation of musical trouble makers (especially with my skills of angering Mr. Hughes and yelling expletives at inap-propriate times); Rae/Ali/Mia/Jules/Shayna my dancing skillz; Joel/LA my backflip-ability; Royce/Habib my trumpet mute/balliness; Slumdog girls my awe-someness and ability to make the most ridiculous nick-names; Nikhon/Andrew the role of co-medians/jokesters of chorale, bel, and studio; Darling Ellen/Ari the third computer from the left in the middle row of the mac lab; Rach my school spirit, our 80’s day moment and our tango; Julie, my college essays; Don-

ald/Chris, my homedogs hughes and neubs; Wyatt/Kelvin, the new wing of the school; Nikki H in charge of the Lean on Me wall and Team Natural Hurters; Nikki T/Atosa, my falsetto; Monil my legacy and Concert Chorale.

I, Justin Vega, would like to leave my record-setting bottle rocket to boy-genius David Bie-ber in the hope that he may one day launch it into the cosmic abyss. My gangsta swag will be left to the freshman solely known as “Dave.” May it aid his quest for individuality amidst the next three years of social conform-ist pressures. Finally, I shall bequeath the responsibility of spreading my mystic legacy to the influential teachers of this academic edifice (that means no one from the infamous Foreign Language Department... just kidding; good times with all my Latin and Spanish homies).

Niskayuna High School is known for its high quality art programs, but do senior’s future plans show it? (Note: this does not include students who will major in Fine Arts at general colleges or universities.)

Only one students will be attending a music school, at the Eastman School of Music. (Note: this does not include students who will major in Music at general colleges or universities.)

I, Sara Koste, would like to leave my pink highlighter to Mai Con-don, to continue brightening up the lines of the so many charac-ters I’m sure you’ll bring to life.To my brother I leave my fantas-tic fashion sense… which he will immediately reject, surely. To Joel I leave my optimism, just in case you need it! To Kaela I leave two bags of hand-me-downs, and most of my heart, which you have anyway. To Charlie I leave Kaela. To John Scala I leave a clementine. CCC, can you take care of everyone I am leaving be-hind? Thanks. To Westley I leave a flu shot. ;-) To Alex Colborn I leave a gift card to Bruegger’s and Stewart’s.

I, Lauren Niedbalec, would like to leave the spiffy, new “boys bathrooms” to my brother, Alex Niedbalec, in the hope that he may one day become a “man”! I also leave him to enjoy all of the fruits that the banging and screeching construction noises (that I have long had to put up with) have to offer, right after my departure! You, little brother, have all the luck!

I, Jane McCambley, would like to leave behind all the love, joy,

and fun in the world, and per-mission to marry Dan Stone for Megan McCambley; the number 5, and a (WEEEOOO) for Ariana Hiller; love, groove, and a tie game of Apples to Apples for Caroline Brown; a creepy dance move for Alex Colborn; a late night Han-naford outing for Luke Annapo-lis; an invisible trumpet for Ame-lia Esposito; and a hug and kiss for Brian Vedder, Jill Tullgren, Jackie Moore, Alex Sanders, andMaura Weingarten.

I, Lina Bagepalli, would like to leave the whole music department to my younger sister, Inga. I leave the teachers, the practice rooms and my spot on the violin rack as we move to a new generation of Bagepalli. Oh! I forgot. You are now in charge of Chamber. Good Luck Inga.
