Amusement Device Safety in Ontario




• Responsible for regulating more than 1,600 amusement rides in Ontario.

• Examples:

• TSSA seeks to partner with event/school organizers to ensure that the amusement rides for your event will be safe for the enjoyment of everyone.


• Event organizers need to ensure that the company providing the amusement devices can provide proof of the following safety documents ...


� TSSA Licence� for the amusement devices owner� for the current operating year


� TSSA Permit� for each device� displays the inspector’s

identification, date and identification, date and signature

� confirms the device has been inspected by TSSA for the current operating season.


� “AD” Permit Number� for each device� must be a metal permit affixed to each

device


� Proof of Employed Certified AmusementDevice Mechanic� must be in compliance with the requirements

of Ontario Regulation 187/03 for the Certification of MechanicsCertification of Mechanics


� Proof of Liability Insurance� Must have $2,000,000 Liability Insurance

Fuel Safety in Ontario




• TSSA provides fuel-related safety services associated with the safe transportation, storage, handling and use of fuels as defined in the regulations.

• Includes fuel oil, gasoline, diesel, propane, natural gas, butane digester and landfill gas, and hydrogen.


Key Services:• Issues licences for fuel facilities.

• Reviews and approves facility plans for sites licensed by TSSA.

• Registers contractors.

• Certifies tradespersons who install and service equipment.

• Performs custom equipment approvals.

• Performs Inspection services to ensure safe handling and use of fuels.


Food Vendor Safety at Your Event




Mobile Food Service Equipment (MFSE):

• MFSE is mobile equipment, whether or not permanently parked, containing propane or other hydrocarbon-fired cooking equipment

• Regulated and audited by TSSA to ensure safety standards are met.

Whether you own or rent an MFSE, the equipment:

• Should a TSSA Inspector visit your event, he/she will inspect all fuel-burning

• Follow all operating instructions provided by the manufacturer’s certified installation instructions.
