FOCUSThe Enhanced Recovery After Surgery Multidisciplinary Symposium is designed to provide high quality regional anesthesia training in the techniques of ultrasound guided nerve blocks and regional anesthesia program development in the context of Enhanced Recovery After Surgery (ERAS).

TARGET AUDIENCE Anesthesiologists, Surgeons, CRNA’s, Nurses, Administrators, Pharmacists, Fellows, Residents, and students

EDUCATIONAL OBJECTIVES After attending the symposium, all participants should be able to:• Understand the principles of ERAS

guidelines and steps to implement such goals in their institutions

• Recognize the necessity of a multidisciplinary approach and collaboration between all stakeholders for ERAS program success

• Understand the importance of regional anesthesia and multimodal analgesia for ERAS program success

Anesthesiologists:• Understand the role of ultrasound guided

nerve blocks and multimodal analgesia in ERAS programs

• Describe the indications, contraindications, and complications of common nerve blocks

• Learn the techniques to perform ultrasound guided nerve blocks used for anesthesia and analgesia in colorectal, breast and orthopedic surgery

Surgeons:• Understand the principles of ideal surgical

ERAS guidelines for colorectal, breast, and orthopedic surgery

Administrators:• Understand the role of the administration

in providing support to the stakeholders to facilitate the success of ERAS programs

• Learn and understand how properly constructed ERAS protocols can improve patient care, increase patient safety and satisfaction scores, and improve income.

Pharmacists:• Recognize the pharmacy does not and cannot

function in a silo and plays a critical role in ERAS program success by supporting the multidisciplinary team
