The Bi-Metal production on the TMP
- Materials & Preparations
Core:Magnimat(Cupro-Nickel)CuNi25
Ring:Nickel-Messing CuZn20Ni5
• purchase of blank material • piercing of some rings in-house• polishing process in-house

1€ collector coin
Pre-joint 1€ coin blank
core hardness:114 HV30
Ring & Core
core hardness:86 HV30
Possible handicaps with pre-joined blanks:
• pre-joint hardness• water splits between ring & core after polishing• possible punch markings during joining process• further process to get in touch with dirt

Ring & Core
core hardness:86 HV30
Advantages:
• no pre-joining process needed
• elimination of possible punchmarkings during joining process
• higher machine availability, >> elimination of a pre-joining
operation on a coining press
• seperate polishing process ofring / core, which is easierwith two different materials
• higher punch life-time
• less coining forces

Conclusion
A pre joining process in the production of Bi-Metal collect or coins has noadvantages !
Production results for the customer are more cost-effective in joining & coiningthe product in one production cycle. (simillar as in the circulation money production)
Lower cost value, as the pre-joining operation is not necessary.
The end-product result is much easier to control and to influence.
Tool cost is reduced.
The production flexibility with a Bi-Metal feeding system is unique on a TMP .
