    In the first semester the emphasis has been on writing paragraphs with good, detailedsupport. Since a paragraph develops one idea, the topics being developed are necessarilyquite limited. In this semester the students learn to write an essay, the course WritingComposition presents an integrated programme of writing for high-intermediate students

    of English as a second or foreign language. It combines extensive practice in rhetoricalstrategies and techniques.

    Course objectives: To introduce the skills required to describe reports (bar charts, pie charts and

    tables), by interpreting general and specific information, and comparing andcontrasting data.

    To introduce students to the skills required to structure, organize and presentideas in acceptable different types of essay formats.

    To prepare students for the different types of letters (request, complaint, etc.) thatthey need in real life situation
