Nick Vujicic

Nick Vujicic born 4 December 1982) is an Australian motivational speaker born with tetra-amelia syndrome, a rare disorder characterised by the absence of all four limbs.

He grew up differently from other children and overcame a lot of challenges

throughout his upbringing by adapting to hisdisability. Without limbs he faced a lot

of difficulties including bullying, depression, loneliness and low self--

esteem.

At age eight, he could not see a bright future ahead and he became depressed. When he was ten years old, he

decided to end his life by drowning himself in a bathtub. After a couple attempts, he realized that he did not want

to leave his loved ones with the burden and guilt that would result from his suicide. He could not do that to

them.

At age thirteen he hurt his foot, which he use for many things like typing, writing and swimming. That injury

made he realize that he need to be more thankful for his abilities and less focused on his disabilities.

When he was fifteen years old, he sealed his faith in God and from there it has been an amazing journey.

By listening to Nick’s inspirational speech, it can completely change the way that boys and girls perceive things in a

positive way. Once children begin to understand what Nick has been through and that it is important to accept people for who they are, it can inspire them to grow up as better people and treat one

another with respect.

He show me how far attitude can get you no matter that differences you may have from

everyone else in life. The way I see it is if you can accept and love yourself for who you are,

then others will too.

I respect how Nick has been able to get through his challenges in life and educate others on

them.

Caño Cristales, Colombia

Caño Cristales is a Colombian river located in the Serrania de la Macarena province of Meta. The river is commonly called "The River of Five Colors" or

"The Liquid Rainbow",

• and is even referred to as the most beautiful river in the world due to its striking colors. The river appears in many colors, including

yellow, green, blue, black, and especially red caused by the Macarenia clavigera at the bottom of the river.

During most of the year the river seems like any other, with the water coursing over green algae rocks. Then during period of time between the wet season and the dry season –

which happens between September–November – the river transforms, becoming a river of color. The algae in the water produce a riot of color; red, blue, green, black

and yellow line the river. This river has no fish because of the complexity of the channels.

Cano Cristales is located in a remote, isolated area not easily accessible by road. The site was closed to tourists for several years because of terrorist activity in the region along with concerns about the environmental impact of tourism. It was reopened to visitors in 2009, and today there are several Colombian Tourist Agencies that will fly travelers to La Macarena. From there it is a short trip into "Serrania de la Macarena,"

the national park in which Cano Cristales is located.
