SHAKESPEARE’S THEMES
In today’s world many of
Shakespeare’s themes still apply.
People fall in and out of love,
people hate each other, and
people seek revenge.
![Page 23: English Literature 2014 Shakespeare's Romeo and Juliet](https://reader034.fdocuments.in/reader034/viewer/2022051412/54817079b4af9f290f8b4573/html5/thumbnails/23.jpg)
THE NATURE OF THINGS PEOPLE
In the 400 years since Shakespeare
wrote his plays, people have not
changed much. Shakespeare wrote
about humanity’s basic nature- how
people interact, how people fall in
love, how people express fear, anger,
and doubt
![Page 24: English Literature 2014 Shakespeare's Romeo and Juliet](https://reader034.fdocuments.in/reader034/viewer/2022051412/54817079b4af9f290f8b4573/html5/thumbnails/24.jpg)
RELEVANCE
Shakespeare’s plays remain relevant today
because the situations presented still apply
Romeo and Juliet - young people still fall in
love against their families’ wishes. It may not
be as bloody and violent but there is still
conflict
