Learning Objective: To write a newspaper report

Success Criteria: • I can remember key facts from the story. • I can write a recount.

Today’s Task

Remembering back to the story of ‘The Frog Prince’.

Today you are going to write a small newspaper report about the main event from the story!

We are going to tell everyone that the frog has turned into a prince!

Features of a Newspaper Report

The farmer needed the

help of his wife and his

grandchildren and even

some of the farm animals

to pull up the turnip.

Then they had to move it

to the show. Fred used

his tractor to pull the

turnip. “It was a tough job

to pull it up” reported

Fred.

Fred and his wife won

first prize in the biggest

vegetable competition.

There was a surprise last

night at the Fairy Tale

town vegetable show.

Farmer Fred had brought

his enormous turnip to

show the judges and it

was the size of a car!

The farmer had planted

his turnip in March. He

worked hard to feed and

water it every day. He

was shocked by how big

it grew.

Late Friday evening the prince, who was missing, has been reported found. The princess saw her green frog friend transform into the prince right inside her own bedroom. “I was shocked and very surprised” said the princess.The prince explained that an evil witch had cast a spell on him to turn him into a frog. He could only become a prince again when he met a good friend. The prince and princess are now living happily ever after at their castle with no plans to get any more pet frogs!
