Language Academy (ELA) offers a total immersion experience, where you can improve
your English and also enjoy San Diego – a beautiful city in Southern California.
Learn English on the beautiful campus of the University of San Diego
Intensive English Language ProgramPrepare for academic study in the U.S. with a customized program of core courses in reading, writing, speaking, and listening, as well as
elective courses of your choice such as U.S. Culture, English through Film, Vocabulary and Idioms, and College Workshop, among others.
You will receive a personalized course schedule that is based on your level of English ability, after you are tested and placed in one of six
levels of English. At the English Language Academy, you will learn how to:
4Improve your language skills in reading, writing, listening and speaking, as well as grammar
4Prepare for the TOEFL exam
WHO SHOULD ATTEND: Non-native speakers of English who wish to prepare for academic study at a college or university in the U.S.
ACADEMIC SCHEDULE: The program is scheduled in 10-and 14-week semesters three times each year: Fall, Spring, and Summer. It consists
of at least 20 hours of instruction each week. All courses are located on the beautiful campus of the University of San Diego, California.
Conversational English + TOEFL/IELTS PrepDevelop your English conversational skills in informal settings including international travel and social situations with people from
around the world. Select from a variety of English language courses that match your needs and interests to build a course plan that
focuses on your specific goals. For example…

WHO SHOULD ATTEND: Non-native English speakers who want to expand their English conversational skills.
ACADEMIC SCHEDULE: This is a 3-week international program that improves your English communication skills. Small classes of
15-20 enable a strong connection with instructors and other international students.
Summer International Junior ProgramThe ELA offers a residential Summer Program on the beautiful campus of the University of San Diego with access to state-of-the-art
recreational and sports facilities. Academically strong lessons are integrated with San Diego and southern California explorations to local
attractions, such as SeaWorld, Disneyland, San Diego Zoo, La Jolla Shores, Pacific Beach and more. The program provides …
4An intensive all-English environment to practice and refine language skills
4Field trips that provide opportunities to interact with the local population to reinforce your English and to learn about American Culture
WHO SHOULD ATTEND: Non-native English speakers who are between the ages of 13 and 17 years of age.
ACADEMIC SCHEDULE: Groups can stay from 2 to 4 weeks in this unique program offered June through August. Students enjoy small classes
and a relaxed, friendly classroom atmosphere. Classes have 8 students on average, with 10 students maximum per class. Instruction is 17 hours
per week, including cultural workshops and participation in community activities and field trips.
English for Career Development Increase your knowledge of Business English, and gain valuable hands-on experience in a professional English-speaking environment.
In this immersive program, you will learn how to communicate in a business setting through taking Business English classes, apply and
interview for a position, and volunteer at an American company, providing a valuable addition to your resume.
WHO SHOULD ATTEND: Non-native intermediate - advanced English speakers with a minimum of 1 year of training/work experience.
ACADEMIC SCHEDULE: 4 weeks of English language and Business English Instruction plus 6-8 weeks of volunteer experience in an
American company related to your training or experience, as well as a commitment of a minimum of 20 hours of volunteer work each week.
