English Language Program (ELP) E nglish Language Program at California State University, San Bernardino (CSUSB) is designed for those seeking an intensive English experience focusing on reading, writing, listening and speaking, as well as an introduction to American culture. The program focuses on providing the academic English language skills needed to meet the requirements for admission into the university’s undergraduate and graduate programs. About the program ■ 10 weeks of instruction ■ 4-5 hours per day, 5 days per week (4 days per week in summer) ■ Admission requirements: at least 18 years of age and high school graduate or approval of International Programs staff. In addition to classroom learning, students can participate in recreational activities on and around the campus such as holiday parties, talent shows, movie nights and more! We offer classes for all levels ELP prepares students for academic work at the university level. The curriculum consists of six levels, beginner through advanced (graduate studies preparation level.) ■ The beginner through level five are divided into four core areas including Grammar, Academic Writing, Reading and Listening/Speaking. ■ Level six focuses on Advanced TOEFL Preparation, Critical Thinking, Academic Writing, and Oral Language development. Students are required to take a placement test upon entrance and are placed in a level of instruction based on the test results.
