Everyone arrived back to school on Monday in good spirits and full of their holiday news.

This week we celebrated Maslenitsa. With the snow melting it does appear that our celebrations have truly heralded the start of Spring. It was an opportunity for primary and secondary students to join together and take part in an afternoon of singing, dancing, and creativity. You can read more about the day on page 2 of this Newsletter.

As we will not be in school for International Women’s Day we will be holding our concert to mark this event on Monday 11th March. Parents are warmly invited to join us at 2pm. The students have been rehearsing this week and are looking forward to sharing the afternoon with you all.

Our Maths Department will be celebrating Pi Day on Thursday 14th March. This is an international celebration of all things mathematical. Subject lessons that day will focus on a specific link with Maths and we are holding a ‘Times Table Bee’ for the Primary students. So get practicing! A letter has been sent home to parents giving details of the exciting Pi Making Competition. I look forward to judging the entries with a prize on offer.

It won’t be long until Book Week is upon us and the teachers are putting together an exciting and engaging range of literacy based activities for our students. Keep an eye on future newsletters for details.

A note for your diaries:- the next Parent and teacher meetings will take place on 3rd and 4th April. Further details will be sent out to all parents nearer the time to book appointments. This is an important event where we can discuss the progress of your child, so please keep the dates free.

Maslenitsa Celebrations

On Monday the whole school came together to celebrate Maslenitsa. This heralds the coming of Spring after

the cold winter months.

The whole school took part and students were split into their Houses. Year 7 led the traditional games and

story telling outside, together with singing and dancing.

Everyone enjoyed the tradition of eating yummy pancakes in the afternoon.

As part of the festivities primary and secondary students shared in an afternoon of creativity: drawing,

making Maslenitsa dolls and creating their own Maslenitsa puppet. It was a great start to this half-term.
