    V.- The use of Conditional IF:

    When we have the word IF in a sentence, it implies that there is a condition fora result or outcome. That result or outcome is separated from the condition (IF)

    by a coma ( , ) in the sentence.

    Examples:If the temperature of water reaches 100C, it boils. (the result is underlined)If you eat too many of those sweets, youll get a stomachache. (the result is

    Types of IF structures:

    Divide the class in two or in groups (2, 4, 6, 8). One group of students will be

    The Patients and the other group will be The Doctors. Using all the phrases

    and structures studied / practiced before, The Patients will ask the other groupfor medical advice, and the Doctors will suggest some solutions. If the

    Patients are unhappy with the advice, they can go and get a second or third

    opinion from The Doctors.

    I cant sleep very well at night - I always have backache in the mornings - None of my

    doctor.

    Patient 2:Illness description: You feel very sick. You have a fever and headache. You feeltired, your joints hurt badly and you feel very weak. You dont feel like eatinganything. You have been keeping warm but you still feel bad.Your task: You are going to see the doctor today. Plan a dialogue with the doctordetailing your situation.

    Patient 3:Illness description: You have a cough since two weeks. The situation is not
