DOUBLE- DECKER • A double-decker is a bus that has twolevels for passengers, one deck above theother. These double-decker buses are popular in some European cities and insome parts of Asia, usually in former Britishcolonies.
BIG BEN• The name Big Ben actually refers not to theclock –tower itself, but to the Great Bell housedwithin the clock tower.
This bell weighs 13 tonnes, equivalent to 5 adultelephants.
What everybody goes to visit is not the Big Ben,that of course, it is there but people cannot see;
What people really see is the Houses of Parliament
Benjamin Hall (1802-1867)He became MP in 1832 and oversaw the rebuilding of the Houses of Parliament, including the installation of the 13.8-tonne hour bell, “Big Ben”, in the clock tower.
He was a tall man and many attribute its name to him, but this is questionable
Below is part of the famous speech by Martin Luther King
“ I have a dream”
I say to you today, my friends, that in spite of the difficulties and frustrations of the moment , I still have a dream.It is a dream deeply rooted in the American dream.
I have a dream that one day this nation will rise up and live out the true meaning of its creed: We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal.
I have a dream that one day on the red hills of Georgia the sons of former slaves and the sons of former slave owners will be able to sit down together at a table of brotherhood.
I have a dream that one day even the state of Mississippi, a desert state, sweltering with the heat of injustice and oppression, will be transformed into an oasis of freedom and justice.
I have a dream that my four children will one day live in a nation where they will not be judged by the colour of their skin but by the content of their character.
I have a dream …
