UNIT 13

1. Hỏi thời tiết trong tiếng Anh

Để hỏi về thời tiết như thế nào, các em sử dụng mẫu câu:

What + be + THE WEATHER LIKE + ...?

- What is the weather like today? Thời tiết hôm nay như thế nào?

- What is the weather like in Hanoi? Thời tiết Hà Nội như thế nào?

- What is the weather like here in the sunny season? Vào mùa nắng, thời tiết ở đây

như thế nào?

Để trả lời cho câu hỏi thời tiết, chúng ta thường sử dụng mẫu câu It + be + tính từ

chỉ thời tiết.

* Các tính từ chỉ thời tiết có thể là:

cool: mát

wet: ướt

sultry: oi bức

hot: nóng

windy: có gió cold: lạnh

cloudy: nhiều mây

chilly: lạnh thấu xương

foggy: nhiều sương mù

sunny: có nắng

misty: nhiều sương muối

rainy: có mưa

icy: đóng băng

fine: trời đẹp

frosty: giá rét

dull: nhiều mây

stormy: có bão

overcast: u ám

dry: khô

humid: ẩm ướt

2. Mệnh đề When trong tiếng Anh

Câu: When it's hot, Ba goes swimming. có hai thành phần:

Thành phần chính: Ba goes swimming

Thành phần chỉ thời gian: When it's hot.

Có thể nói rằng câu trên là một dạng Mệnh đề quan hệ, trong đó Mệnh đề quan hệ

When cho chúng ta biết rõ hơn về thời gian của người hay vật mà người nói muốn

nói tới.

Nếu mệnh đề when ở đầu câu, các em chú ý sử dụng dấu phẩy (,) để phân biệt với

mệnh đề chính.

Nếu mệnh đề when ở cuối câu, chúng ta không cần sử dụng dấu phẩy.

Ví dụ:

- What does he do when it is hot? Cậu ấy làm gì khi trời nóng?

- When it is cold, he plays soccer. Khi trời lạnh, cậu ta chơi bóng đá.

- He plays soccer when it's cold
