School MaterialStudents, you are required to come to school PREPARED, meaning, with the necessary material. If you so happen to BORROW a utensil from a teacher, please RETURN IT.

Grading Policy-- MINOR GRADES (40%)--Assignments used in daily work is

mastering skills --8 daily grades per

grading periodGRADES:  Daily Assignments:--on time                                =  100--1 day late                            =    90--2 days late                           =    80--3 days late                           =    70--4 days late or more                =    60--by Wed. of last week or after   =    50

Grading Policy– Major GRADES (50%)--(used to assess mastery skills) Tests,

projects, research papers --Test date will be set with a

minimum per grading period of two days notice.

--may retest on Major GradesAfter students have received scores, they

have 5 school days to come in for a retest and will receive the higher of the grades with a 75 being the highest grade on a retest.

Grading Policy– Reading Grade(10%)—Every grading period

Office will prepare the test.

Making Up AssignmentsAny work missed due to illness needs to be

made up within 5 school days.All written work is due by the last Wednesday

of the grading period for that grading period grade for a 60.

Any work turned in later than Wednesday of a grading period receives a 50 up to the end of year.

Accelerated Reader--counts for two daily gradesPoints :Applied English II or IV—one book per grading

Speaking with PermissionStudents, raise your hand, you WILL be heard.

Do NOT shout across the room, speak without permission, or talk while someone else is talking is NOT tolerated at THS.

How to answer Teacher PhoneTeacher’s phone is NOT to be used unless given permission by a TEACHER. What you should say

When answering the phone, the proper way to answer is:

“ Mr./Mrs./Ms.(Teacher’s Name) room, student speaking...”

NOT: “Hey”, or “What’s up”

Remember, Phone calls are for the TEACHERS not the STUDENTS.

GUMChewing Gum....

Students are asked to dispose gum properly and NOT UNDER DESKS!! You’re not saving it!!

NO FOOD OR DRINKS IN CLASSStudents, food and drinks are prohibited

from a classroom during the school day.

ElectronicsCell Phones are prohibited during Class...The only time you can use them is: Before School, Lunch, and After School.

MP3’s, IPods, PSP’s, and other electronically devices are not allowed during class. They will be collected and turned into the office.

HALL PASS and PrivilegesStudents, you do not leave class unless you carry a HALL PASS SIGNED by your TEACHER.

To go to the Nurses’ office, you MUST have a SLIP from your TEACHER to do so.

This is NOT going to the RESTROOM. This is MISUSING your Hall Privileges which CAN be taken away.

Prohibited Areas and Entering the Class roomStudents, the Teachers’ Lounge is off limits during all times of the school day. You are not allowed to enter for you are not a TEACHER.

Students, when entering a class room, we ask you do it in a mannerly fashion and not cause a disruption.

Disruptions: Banging on the door or Window, Kicking the door, rattling the door knob violently etc..

The Library and Closed CampusWhen going to the library, you are asked to have a note from your teacher..

Students, Taft ISD is a CLOSED CAMPUS. Meaning, you are NOT allowed to leave (including Lunch) unless you are signed out by Legal Guardian.

PDAStudents, PDA is not tolerated at Taft ISD.

PDA includes: Kissing, Holding hands, Hugging, or any type of PHYSICAL CONTACT with the opposite Sex.
