    Amazing Restaurant in a Paradise

The following is a review about the first underwater restaurant of its kind, Ithaa in Rangali island.

These are the exact words from Daniel, who is from Sao Paulo, Brazil

If you are planning to visit Maldives you should try to have a lunch at Ithaa Reataurant. It is a

unforgettable and unique experience. An incredible marine life,

surrounding the glass, with pristine water over ... wow. The food is

very good, as well as the beverages. Try a champagne and relax.

Just be aware that because the water transparency you will be very

exposed to the sun, thus a sunscreen will be good. We have been

    there on June 2008.

Assume that you have read this review and later that day you met your friend Aalim and you

reported that review to Aalim; fill in these blanks to complete the reported passage. [10marks]

Daniel (say) (1) that If we, (be) (2) planning to visit Maldives

we should try to (have) (3) a lunch at Ithaa Reataurant. He told that It (be)

    (4) an unforgettable and unique experience for him. He also exclaimed that, that

restaurant (be) (5) an incredible marine life, surrounding the glass, with pristine

water over. The food (be) (6) very good, as well as the beverages. In addition to

this, he suggested us to (try) (7) a champagne and relax. He warned us to be

Massively expensive food in once-in-a-lifetime surroundings

Cut besides between fish from set catch spices but good entire

expect as a might in spite absolute try on that like before

Due to its extraordinary location - undersea - Ithaa is certainly Rangali Island's most famous

    restaurant.

Here you dine some four meters below sea level in a brightly

lit, arched human aquarium, in which its the

    (1) looking in at you. Youll eat from a

    predictably expensive (2) menu that

includes the recommended (3) of the day, a lightly (4) and

zingy reef fish, (5) while the food and service are good, eating at Ithaa is really

about the (7) experience. By night you can expect to see small sharks, eels and

manta rays gliding about as you dine.

Its a great experience, but not as delicious as you (8) imagine. If you want the

    (9) best at Rangali, try the Kojo Grill - dining al fresco on a perfect Maldivian

beach by night. Bear in mind (10) it's equally expensive, and like Ithaa, you'll

probably need to book at least three weeks before you travel.

Give a verb phrase with an appropriate form of the given verbs. Use passive voice [10 marks]

We (1) (supply) with the menu a day in advance, which they

happily (2) (amend) to reflect my husband's less eclectic palate,

    and the meal (3) beautifully (3)(present). I'm

afraid it's a little too long ago for me to go into detail, but I remember

(4)(impress)with each of the courses, and enjoying each bite! The dining area

(5)(use)by us for the rest of our stay there, and I have (6)(say)the food was

AMAZING there in comparison, but I don't think you eat at Ithaa for the food. The service was

extremely good, as everywhere else on Rangali. Very swift - although down a flight of stairs the

courses (7)(serve)at perfect temperature every time - very courteous attentive staff.

    Our sunglasses (8) even (8)(clean) and (9)(provide)

some shades for people who (10)(not/bring) their own.

Use simple past form of the given verbs in the brackets to complete the passage [5 marks]

Example: I talked (talk) to my brother this morning.

The country (1) (be) governed as an independent Islamic Sultanate from 1153 to

1968. The importance of Arabs as traders in the 12th century can be

considered as one of the primary reason, which (2) (lead) to

the adoption of Islam as the main religion of the country. The Buddhist king

    (3) (convert) to Islam and (4)(adopt) the Sultan title. Since then the

country has had 84 sultans and six Islamic dynasties until 1932 when the sultanate

    (5)(become) elective.

Though mainly (6)(govern) as an independent Islamic sultanate the country was

however under colonial rule for a brief period. The country was a colony of the Portuguese in 1558,

the Dutch in 1654 and the British from 1887 to 1965. In 1953 the country (7)(try) to

form a republic, but without much result. The country however

(8)(gain)independence from the British on the 26th of July, 1965. Thereafter, the sultanate

(9)(continue) to operate for three years until

in 1968, November 11th it was abolished and the country

became a republic. The country from then onwards

(10)(come)to be known as the Republic of
