CONCRETE OR SHAPE POEMA concrete or shape poem is a poem that forms a picture of the topic or follows the contours of a shape that is suggested by that topic. In other words, a concrete poem is one that takes the shape of the object it describes:

1.Think of some feeling but imagine that your poem is going to be printed as a picture so that you can decide on the ideal shape for the poem.

2.The shape can be anything you want, as long as it has something to do with what your poem is about.

3.It might be easiest to outline the shape first, and then erase it, leaving a faint hint of the shape to guide you.

4.Popular examples are hearts and angel wings, clouds, etc.

O, my Luve's like a red, red rose, That's newly sprung in June. O, my luve's like the melodie, That's sweetly play'd in tune.

As fair art thou, my bonie lass, So deep in luve am I, And I will luve thee still, my Dear, Till a' the seas gang dry.

Till a' the seas gang dry, my Dear, And the rocks melt wi' the sun! O I will luve thee still, my Dear, While the sands o' life shall run.

And fare thee weel, my only Luve, And fare thee weel a while! And I will come again, my Luve, Tho' it were ten thousand mile!
