HUNT IN MONGOLIA

Hunt in Mongolia with our partner “Wild hunting”. Mongolia has the population of only 2, 8 million people living sparsely over an area equal to half of Europe. The capital city Ulaanbaatar offers a range of tourist attractions. Mongolia resides on a high mountainous plateau, 4,900 feet above sea level. Altai, Hangai, Hentii and Hi-angan mountain ranges fence the country and shield away humid, warm airflows, from the Atlantic and Pacific Oceans. These Mountains make up 42,5% of the country and are home to the magnificent giant Argali’s of Mongolia. The Gobi Desert occupies more than 400,200 sq.kms of the southern part of Mongolia. The desert ecosystem supports domestic goats and camels, as well as wild animals, such as snow leopard, ibex, argali’s and even wild horses. About two dozen bears, known as the Mazaalai bear is found in nooks of Gobi desert.

The Great Eastern Plains is the lowest part of the country and these endless stretches serve as ideal pasture for half a million antelope.

Flight info Arrival to Ulaanbaatar:

Clients from the US and Europe book their flights to Ulaanbaatar, flying through Bei-jing, Seoul or Istanbul. On arrival to Ulaanbaatar, an English-speaking guide/interpreter will meet you at the airport and assist you with customs clearance and firearms decla-ration.

You will spend the first day of the arrival at one the good hotels in Ulaanbaatar and leave for the hunting area the next day. Depending on where you are hunting you will either travel to the hunting area by a new 4x4 Truck or take a domestic/private flight and then drive from there; however, the majority of the travelling will be by ground transportation. (Toyota Land Cruiser 4x4’s are used)

Travel & Accom-modation during the hunt:

The base camps are located all over Mongolia. The total distance from camp to camp at times can be very long. The Gobi Desert, for instance, can only be travelled by 4x4 vehicles. It is a huge area and the second biggest desert it the world. An English-speaking representative will accompany you during your entire trip. Your team of hunting guides and several other camp staff will join you once you arrive at your hunt camp. Depending on road condi-tions, it can take 6-8 hours of travel during the day to reach hunting camp for Hangai and Gobi Argali hunting areas.

There are a few villages along the way where you will stop for a brief lunch served by the staff. The camp staff is hard working and friendly people. They will help you with anything you may need during your stay. For Altai Argali/Ibex hunts, domestic flights from Ulanbaatar are used to reach the nearest airport to the hunting area.

Gobi and Hangai argali hunts - spot and stalk hunting is the preferred method of hunting as it allows us to judge the animals with spotting scopes before making the final stalk. In general, the number of Argali sheep is good in Mongolia and quality of trophy has increased compared to a decade ago, now there are 45 Argali permits in Total on average annually. Therefore, the permit fees are increasing each year due to high demand and government expectations.
