Painting
Painting is a mode of creativeexpression, and the forms arenumerous. Drawing, composition or
abstraction and other aesthetics mayserve to manifest the expressive andconceptual intention of thepractitioner. Paintings can benaturalistic and representational ,photographic, abstract, be loaded withnarrative content, symbolism, emotion
or be political in nature.

Color
Color and tone are the essence ofpainting as pitch and rhythm are of music.Color is highly subjective, but has
observable psychological effects, althoughthese can differ from one culture to thenext. Black is associated with mourning inthe West, but in the East, white is. Some
painters, theoreticians, writers andscientists, including Goethe, Kandinsky,and Newton, have written their own color
theory.

Rhythm
Rhythm is important in painting as wellas in music. If one defines rhythm as "apause incorporated into a sequence", thenthere can be rhythm in paintings. These
pauses allow creative force to interveneand add new creationsform, melody,coloration. The distribution of form, or anykind of information is of crucialimportance in the given work of art and itdirectly affects the esthetical value of thatwork.

Fresco
Fresco is any of several related muralpainting types, done on plaster on walls orceilings. The word fresco comes from the
Italian word affresco, which derives fromthe Latin word for "fresh". Frescoes wereoften made during the Renaissance andother early time periods.

Pastel
Pastel is a painting medium in the formof a stick, consisting of pure powderedpigment and a binder. The pigments usedin pastels are the same as those used to
produce all colored art media, including oilpaints; the binder is of a neutral hue andlow saturation. The color effect of pastels
is closer to the natural dry pigments thanthat of any other process.

Bodypainting
Body painting is a form of body art.Unlike tattoo and other forms of body art,body painting is temporary, painted onto
the human skin, and lasts for only severalhours, or at most a couple of weeks. Bodypainting that is limited to the face isknown as face painting. Body painting is
also referred to as temporary tattoo.
