PREPARATION COMMON TO PART 1 AND PART 2

Subtask 521165-910-401-001 - Standard Practices

(a) To torque tighten the standard threaded fasteners, refer to AMM Task 20-21-11-

911-001.

(b) For the identification of zones, refer to AMM 06-20-00, Page Block 001.

(c) For the specification of materials (Mat. No.) given in this Engineering Order,

refer to Consumable Materials List (CML).

(d) Tag all the parts you must remove and retain to make the subsequent

installation easier.

(e) Put all the retained hardware in identified plastic bags and attach the bags to

the related unit.

(f) Apply sealant in accordance with SRM 51-24-00.

(g) To safety fasteners with locking wire, refer to AMM Task 20-11-11-991-001.

(h) To safety fasteners with cotter pins, refer to AMM Task 20-11-11-991-008.

(i) If the length of any fastener specified in this Service Bulletin does not meet

installation standards given in SRM Chapter 51, then a fastener of the same

specification, or an approved substitute, with a length which meets the

installation standards given in SRM Chapter 51 may be used. In addition,

washers may be installed for fastener grip length in accordance with SRM

Chapter 51.

(j) If alternative and substitute fasteners have to be used, you must make sure that

the associated nut/collar are compatible in accordance with SRM 51-40-00

’Mating Part’ column.

(k) Remove and install fasteners in accordance with SRM 51-42-00.

(l) Renew the protective finish in accordance with SRM 51-75-12.

(m) Obtain alternative and substitute fastener data in accordance with SRM 51-43-

00.

(n) For the electrical bonding, refer to ESPM 20-51-20 and AMM Task 20-28-00-

912-004.

Subtask 521165-941-401-001 – JOB SET-UP

The following items shall be considered as the basic Aircraft

configuration before you start a maintenance task:

(a) Aircraft on the ground resting on landing gear (the ground safety locks and the

wheel chocks are in position on the landing gear).

(b) Engine shut down, thrust reversers closed and locked.

(c) Aircraft in clean configuration.

(d) Parking brake applied.

(e) Aircraft electrical network de-energized.

(f) Hydraulic systems depressurized.

(g) Access to the cockpit and cabin is available.

(h) All circuit breakers are in the closed position.

(i) All controls in NORM, AUTO, OFF position.

(j) Make sure that the aircraft is electrically grounded, refer to AMM Task 12-32-

24-869-002.

(k) Do the Job Set-Up procedure as specified in the removal of the MLG Fixed

Fairing assembly, refer to AMM Task 32-12-14-000-001

(l) Do the Job Set-up procedure as specified in the retraction of the landing gear

for maintenance, refer to AMM Task 32-30-00-867-001

(m) Do the Job Set-up procedure as specified in the extension of the landing gear

for maintenance, refer to AMM Task 32-30-00-867-002

A. Do a Detailed Inspection (DI) of the LH and RH fixed fairing door upper and lower

forward attachment stud assemblies for signs of corrosion, wear, fatigue or cracking. Also, check for loose studs. Refer to figures A-UBBAA and A-UFBAA. Report findings to Engineering department.

If there are defects, perform Part 2 of this E.O. IMPORTANT: In case corrosion is found on any MLG fixed fairing forward attachment

stud assembly (upper, lower, LH or RH), but the corroded stud is not loose, within 4 months after finding corrosion and, thereafter, at intervals not exceeding 4 months, accomplish a DETAILED INSPECTION of the forward stud assembly of the affected (RH or LH) MLG in accordance with the instructions of this Engineering Order, instead of replacement of the LH and RH MLG door upper and lower forward attachment studs.

If no defects were found, follow with next step.

B. If there are no findings, do the inspection again in accordance with Accomplishment

Timescales. Perform Subtask 521163-942-401-001 - CLOSE-UP
