WHAT IS GUARD-RITETM? NATURAL VS. SYNTHETIC RUBBER

GUARD-RITETM is American Biltrite’s special line of products developed to meet the critical challenges of the rubber lining market. American Biltrite’s engineered lining solutions are offered in several polymers to cover an array of mining applications:

Product comparison charts are on pages 9 and 11.

  • WHAT IS GUARD-RITETM? NATURAL VS. SYNTHETIC RUBBER

Natural rubber is produced from the latex obtained from a tree. Most trees can be found in Brazil, South East Asia, Africa, and South America.

Synthetic rubber is produced using polymers that are derived from petroleum.

The GUARD-RITE line has your specific application requirements covered.

NATURAL RUBBER STRENGTHS High tensile strength High resistance to abrasion High resistance to cut & tear Excellent adhesion to itself and other substrates Insulative properties Impact and noise reduction

SYNTHETIC RUBBER STRENGTHS Superior resistance to heat and aging Wide range of service temperatures Chemical resistance (Butyl) Resistance to heat, ozone, and UV (EPDM) Oil resistance (Nitrile) Flame resistance (Neoprene)

Natural rubber is the most abrasion and tear resistant solution. These are our proven, popular lining staples that protect equipment in the most demanding and physically abusive applications: scratching, gouging, scraping, and tearing. See our product comparison chart on page 9 to choose the perfect natural rubber solution for your specifications.

Our natural rubber linings are ideal for: storage vessels, tumblers, vibrators, cyclones, fans, pumps, pipes, chutes, hoppers, shaker / trommel screens, bins, pulley lagging, truck boxes, mine cars, skips, slurry tanks, and flotation cells.

CHEM-GUARDThe primary polymer of CHEM-GUARD is Butyl. This rubber compound is ideal for: acid storage and transport (tanks, pipe, pump), limestone slurry tanks, ferric chloride storage and transport. CHEM-GUARD provides the ultimate solution for chemical resistance. Good resistance to alkalis, acids, heat, oxygen, water, and steam. Outstanding impermeability to gases and vapour.

PETRO-GUARDThe primary polymer of PETRO-GUARD is Nitrile. This rubber compound is ideal for: fuel & oil handling, transportation / storage tanks, pipes, pumps, fittings, and petrochemical. PETRO-GUARD provides excellent resistance to oil and gasoline. Superior resistance to petroleum-based hydraulic fluids. Wide range of service temperatures. Good resistance to hydrocarbon solvents.

HEAT-GUARDThe primary polymer of HEAT-GUARD is Ethylene Propylene Diene (EPDM). This rubber compound is ideal for: ponds, gutters, tailings, and UV & ozone resistance. HEAT-GUARD provides stability where high heat and ozone / UV resistance are factors as it maintains it’s physical properties when exposed to harsh elements.

FLAME-GUARDThe primary polymer of FLAME-GUARD is Neoprene. This rubber compound is ideal for: transportation / storage tanks, sea water transport, pipes, fittings, and fans. FLAME-GUARD is considered self-extinguishing and also displays moderate resistance to: oil, gas, abrasion, weather, ozone, natural aging, and flex cracking. A good general purpose solution.

    OUR BONDING LAYER

Bonding cured rubber to a substrate typically necessitates significant preparation of the surface prior to applying adhesive. This may require installers to buff the surface, followed by cleaning of the rubber with a solution. GUARD-RITETM is different; our bonding layer is adhesive-ready with no buffing required.

As presented in this picture, all GUARD-RITETM products feature our premium black textured bonding layer. Adhesives bond to this surface, no matter what kind of equipment you are lining: pipes, tanks, processing and handling equipment - discover better adhesion paired with easy application.

See benefits on the following page.

OUR BONDING LAYER FEATURES & BENEFITS OF OUR BONDING LAYER

Maximizing production time and overall efficiency:

    1. The user-friendly Polychloroprene (CR) bonding layer is recognized for it’s excellent adhesion properties.

Minimizing expensive preparation and costly down-time.

    2. It is the perfect catalyst for adhesive.

It requires no buffing prior to application.

    3. The same textured bonding layer is used on all 8 GUARD-RITETM products.

One installation procedure no matter which GUARD-RITE product is being installed.

    5. Reduce inventory levels by having one adhesive system.
