Where can I send my empties?ETIRA has members all around
Europe. Simply look at the back
of this flyer, check our website
(www.etira.org), or contact ETIRA
for an address near you. Also, your
local charity, school, sports club,
etc. can set up a collection scheme.
ETIRA members will collect empties
from them, and may even pay a
small amount for each cartridge or
make a donation. This usually
provides a welcome contribution
to the charities’ budget, or your
local school’s annual fair, etc.
Are remanufactured cartridges just as good as new cartridges?Yes, because cartridges remanufac-
tured by an ETIRA member are
made according to the highest
quality standards (including ISO,
DIN) and fully tested before going
on sale. Also, many businesses and
home users of computer printers
and faxes are recognising that
remanufactured cartridges - which
may be up to 20%-30% less expen-

Frequently Asked Questionssive than the original products -
represent a real, cost-effective and
environmentally-friendlier choice for
them. So there is only 1 major diffe-
rence with new cartridges: the price!
Why do I help the environment if I buy remanufactured cartridges?Today, most empty plastic printer
cartridges are dumped in landfills
around the world. Every year, more
than 750,000 m3, which is equal to
approx. 4 large football stadiums, are
needed to dump the waste created
in Europe by discarded cartridges.
But cartridges can be remanufactu-
red easily up to 2-3 times, so using
remanufactured cartridges substanti-
ally reduces the number of cartrid-
ges dumped, in an ideal world by a
staggering 66-75%! Every cartridge
that we remanufacture is one fewer
going directly to landfill. For every
remanufactured cartridge purchased,
it’s one less new cartridge that
needs to be produced, saving it
from entering the waste stream and
from draining the planet’s natural
resources.

There are already over2,000 remanufacturers inEurope, and they sellaround 12 million tonercartridges (or 27% of thetotal market) to clients likeyou every year. Of the 300million inkjet cartridgessold in W-Europe, around45 million are remanu-factured, representing amarket share of 15%.
