3 Dilemma Activites
plan – do - review
1. Either:
(Option 1) Choose a dilemma lesson* (or an activity as part of a lesson) to teach to a class or group of pupils or
(Option 2) Choose a dilemma to think about and plan how you would teach the lesson or activity. Think about the teachers’ role and strategies needed to implement a successful dilemma lesson.
2. What challenges might you face and what strategies will you use to teach the lesson?
3. What do you anticipate the pupils will achieve from the lesson?
* You can use ENGAGE materials to provide examples.
1- discussion forum: “PLAN”
What are the key issues to be considered when using a dilemma in your
teaching? Your task
• Complete a PPT slide (see template and examples) to share your thoughts and observations with other course participants
• We will use the slide as part of the discussion in the webinar (optional)
• You may comment on colleagues’ slides before the group discussion
• or about your challenges and own strategies during the lesson.
2 – ppt slide : “DO”
Discuss an ENGAGE lesson with your
colleagues in your department
Use an ENGAGE lesson with your
students or…
Your task
Your name
Describe your dilemma lesson
How did you (plan to) introduce the dilemma?
What teaching strategies did you (plan to) use in the lesson?
What challenges did you (expect to) face in the lesson?
What were the (intended) outcomes of the lesson?
Were there any unexpected outcomes from the lesson?
- Think about your observations, actions and outcomes when completing your slide- You can use or adapt this template including also images

They were quiet
Students found difficult to connect their existing knowledge…
Strategies
I asked then questions about their informal knowledge and science concepts …
Unexpected Outcomes
Some students explained concepts. We created a concept map…
