* Gia Han is a student in grade 6JQ at the United Nations International School

of Hanoi (UNIS). She is from Vietnam. One of her all time favorite subject at

school is English. When she was a young little girl, she loved to read books and

at the same time, she just loved making stories about fairies and daily life

situations. When she was in grade 3, she still loved to write stories about

anything she liked but, her favorite way to write was Poems. She thought that

poems have a strong way of expressing ourselves in words that stories wouldn’t

use. She knew that when you are writing a poem, you are free to write and

imagine about anything you wanted to write or imagine about. One of the

quotes that she still always has in mind is that “You are free to imagine or write

about anything you want” and that is an inspiration to her when she writes

poems. Gia Han is always inspired by other poems and objects that she might

like. One of her all time favorite poem and her all time meaningful poem was

about how she lost her dog forever. It was one sad story but writing it in a poem

way, she expressed how sad and how happy she is for her one beloved dog that

she once had but she always had him right beside her in her heart.

*Me as a little baby

Ten years ago

I crawled to the window

Right in my room

Looking out side

What a beautiful sight

Cars everywhere

Beep, beep, beep, beep

Grabbing one would be so fun

Reaching out, extending my limbs

Left hand holding my teddy bear

Right hand reaching for something there

Mommies downstairs making lunch

While Daddies upstairs fixing lights

My Brother is far away

All the way in Singapore

I wondered what to do to get

The thing I wanted right underneath

Scared of heights

Fears to fall

My left hand just let go of the bear

Grabbing tight to the little window

I finally realized I can't reach the car

I crawled back in

Oh bummer it is

Few minutes later my bear was gone

My teddy bear ten years ago

Will sit in my arms at anytime

*Hey sister, you forgot me

Come on back

You will find me where?

Right here right there

Under the dog

On top of the log

Without you here

No one goes near

To wash my face

With full of grace

Without your hands

There is no land

You hold me tight

I feel the light

I am your box

With full of blocks

Which counts as games

To beat Jimmy James

You will find me where?

Right here, right there

Under the dog

On top of the log

Sister, just please come back

*1

Popcorn popping

In the hot red oven

2

Disturbing you

During your sleepy nights

3

Tears from me

Fears of death

4

People die there

Cries everywhere

5

Many lives lost

And all the broken hearts

6

A spot of white

Waving In a black and red world

7

Green all gone,

Left only black

*Freezing days of ice

Trees covered with glitter snow

Whooshing by with pearls

*When you loose a friend

You feel like it's the end

Finding him was so hard

But it's just a little start

It is such a pain

To not see him again

We used to play this game

So he would know our names

Woofing here and there

Sometimes even there

Having so much fun

Right beneath the sun

Wish that time could stop

So you and I could pop

You are no longer here

But you're deep inside right here

I hope you're having fun

Right beneath the sun

How we always used to be

I hope you remember me

Warm regards to you

We always love you

When you loose a friend

You feel like it's the end
