Şükrü Saracoğlu Stadium , is a football stadium in the Kadıköy district of Istanbul,

Turkey, and is the home venue of Fenerbahçe S.K.. It was inaugurated in 1908 and

renovated between 1999 and 2006. On October 4, 2006, after numerous

inspections by UEFA, Fenerbahçe Şükrü Saracoğlu Stadium was selected to host

the 2009 UEFA Cup Final that went down to history as the last Final of the UEFA

Cup football tournament, which was replaced by the UEFA Europa League starting

from the 2009–2010 season.Following the UEFA Cup Final game in May 2009,

construction works began to add a retractable roof and further increase the

stadium's seating capacity.

The stadium has gone through a complete rebuilding process which involved each

stand being demolished and rebuilt in turn. Each stand has been built closer to the

pitch, getting the fans closer to the action on the field. This style of stadium has

never previously existed in Turkey, as the stands are usually separated from the

pitch by a running track.

The "Maraton" stand can hold up to 14,500 supporters. The stand includes

"Boxes" (or Lodges) which are rented out from the club on a yearly basis. These

boxes are fully equipped with TV screens, Internet, working and meeting areas,

dining facilities and many other luxuries; as the first and most luxurious of their

kind in Turkey. Facing the Maraton stand, at the opposite side, is the "Fenerium"

stand (named after the official chain of Fenerbahçe merchandise stores) with an

all-seated capacity of 15,000 and the luxurious "1907" zone. There are also

equally luxurious boxes and lodges here. Apart from the boxes section of this

stand, every single seat has an LCD monitor behind the chair, for every supporter

to follow the game from the live coverage and catch the replays. Including the two

remaining stands behind the goal areas, namely the "Migros" and "Telsim" stands

(named after the sponsors of each tribune's construction projects), which both

have a seating capacity of 10,500, the total official capacity of the stadium is

50,509.

Aykut Kocaman Biography

Aykut Kocaman, (born 5 April 1965) is a former Turkish footballer, who played as a striker and

current manager of Fenerbahçe. He is the first person in the club's history to have won

the Süper Lig in his playing and managerial career. His name Aykut is now associated with

being given to children that are loved by their parents. Before he made his debut 1980 with the

amateur club Kabataş Altınmızrak in Istanbul, Kocaman performed gymnastics at the

club Eczacıbaşı, winning 40 medals and reaching second place at the national level. 1984, he

moved to Sakaryaspor in Adapazarı, Sakarya and turned professional. Then in 1988, Kocaman

signed a contract with Fenerbahçe, where he played and contributed much to success of his

club until he was transferred to Istanbulspor in 1996.[

He was actually fired from Fenerbahçe despite his championship winning goal in the last game

of the season against Trabzonspor. His gentle words and his regret for the beaten rival team

apparently angered the club president Ali Şen. Kocaman played four seasons

for Istanbulspor and, retired in 2000 as active player. Some say he played his last years to pass

the 200 goal barrier. He was famous for a special move, where he would ease a high-pass on

his chest and rocket the ball to the goal. In his playing years some fans named this move

"Aykut" after him.[ After his career as a player Kocaman served as manager of Istanbulspor for

four successive seasons. Uzan Family withdrew its support from Istanbulspor in 2001.

Because of this, Istanbulspor fell into financial crisis, and became 9th in 2002–03 finally in

2003.

In 2004, financial problems at Istanbulspor forced him to leave and he signed a two year

contract to coachMalatyaspor. He resigned in March 2005 from his duty at Malatyaspor. He

coached Konyaspor in the 2005–06season and Ankaraspor in the 2006–07 season. He returned

to Ankaraspor in the 2008–09 season. He mentored the talented Turkish winger Özer

Hurmacı and introduced him to professional football. He became Fenerbahçe´s Director of

Football in the 2009–10 season. On 26 June 2010 Kocaman was announced

asFenerbahçe's new manager, taking over from Germany's Christoph Daum. Kocaman

officialized his new role as team coach in a signing ceremony held at the Şükrü Saracoğlu

Stadium.

Aziz Yildirim

Aziz Yıldırım, was a professional football player with Diyarbakırspor and Düzcespor. He retired

from professional football at the age of 27 in 1979 and started a construction business. For two

years, he acted as chairman atAnadolu Üsküdar football club during 1981–82 and 1982–83

seasons. He resumed his career in football administration in 1990 when he became Director of

Football at Fenerbahçe in the 1990–91 and 1991–92 seasons. Afterwards, he took up the post of

chairman at Düzcespor between 1993–1995. He became Fenerbahçe's chairman in 1998

after Ali Şen's resignation – a position he still holds. During his reign, the professional football

team had four Turkish League Championships. Under his leadership, significant changes have

been made in the club's infrastructure:Şükrü Saracoğlu Stadium was expanded to a capacity of

55,000 from 30,000. Another significant mark of his success was evident in the 2006–07 season

when over 100,000 Fenerbahçe membership cards were sold. The stadium's modern outlook

gave the city of Istanbul the right to host UEFA Cupchampionship in 2009. Moreover, the club's

financial portfolio changed dramatically under his leadership. Before 1998, a significant portion

of the club's revenues came from media deals. By building a modern stadium and utilizing the

vast potential of the millions of Fenerbahçe fans, he decreased this percentage down to about

40%. Spanish daily tabloid AS wrote that his career resembled that of Florentino Perez.
