RECOVERY FROM SETBACK

The term recovery refers to the process thethermostat uses to operate the heating orcooling equipment to return the house from theenergy savings setting you selected for whenyou are away or asleep to the temperature youprefer when you are home and awake.

This thermostat uses a recovery process thatturns your heating/cooling equipment on or off atthe time you program the temperature tochange. For example, if you program thethermostat’s heating program to 72°F at 6:00AM, the heating equipment will come on at 6:00AM and begin warming the house to 72°F. If you

want the temperature in the house to be 72°F at6:00 AM, you should program the thermostat toan earlier time; for example, 5:30. (The exactamount of time it takes your home to warm orcool to the temperature you want depends onmany factors such as the size of your heating/cooling equipment and the outdoor tempera-ture.)

If this thermostat is for a heat pump system, thethermostat uses an algorithm when recoveringfrom setback that helps reduce the use ofauxiliary heat.

PROGRAMMINGYOUR THERMOSTAT

IMPORTANTBatteries must be installed to maintaintime and date in the event of power loss.

You will find it helpful to complete the PersonalProgramming Charts on the following pagesbefore you begin programming the thermostat.

Plan your program schedule of time andtemperature settings for various times of the dayby filling in the boxes in the Personal Program-ming Charts. There are four time periodsavailable for weekdays, Saturday, and Sunday—

WAKE, LEAVE, RETURN, and SLEEP on theT7512A,B,C,D Thermostats. These periods canbe displayed individually on the thermostat asyou press the WEEKDAY SCHEDULE orWEEKEND SCHEDULE keys. You may want toenter a different schedule for the cooling and theheating seasons.

WAKE is the time you get up. Generally youwant the house at a comfortable tempera-ture when you wake up and get ready togo to work or school. Set the WAKE timeearlier than your alarm clock so the house

Page 7: Energy Management Thermostat...2 69-1153 Welcome to the world of comfort and energy savings with your new Honeywell Energy Management Thermostat. This thermostat allows full weekday/weekend

7 69-1153

has time to warm up or cool down beforeyou get up.

LEAVE is the time you leave for work orschool. Generally, once you leave thehouse, you want the temperature higher orlower (depending on the season) so thatyou can save energy while you are away.

RETURN is the time you return from work orschool. Once again, you want the house ata comfortable temperature when youreturn and go about the normal activitiesof your day before bedtime. Set theRETURN time earlier than the time youactually get home so the house has timeto warm up or cool down before you getthere.

SLEEP is the time you usually go to sleep. While you are sleeping, you can saveenergy by setting the thermostat to controlthe temperature higher or lower (depend-ing on the season). For more comfortablesleeping, some people choose not to raisethe cooling temperature at night.

If you decide not to program the thermostat, itautomatically controls heating and coolingtemperatures as follows:

Starting at 6:00 AM every day, the thermostatsets the heating temperature to 68° and thecooling temperature to 76°F.

Page 8: Energy Management Thermostat...2 69-1153 Welcome to the world of comfort and energy savings with your new Honeywell Energy Management Thermostat. This thermostat allows full weekday/weekend

8 69-1153

At 10:00 PM every night, the thermostat sets theheating temperature back to 60°F; the coolingtemperature remains at 76°F.

You do not need to enter a time and temperatureprogram for every period if your schedule doesnot require it. For example, if your house isoccupied during the day on weekdays, you canprogram only the WAKE and SLEEP times.

NOTE: Temperatures cannot be set any higherthan 88°F or any lower than 45°F.

your utility company. If you notice the tempera-ture in your home is higher or lower than thesetting you programmed into the thermostat, check the thermostat display. To indicate theequipment is under DLC, the thermostat displaysthe word SAVING. You cannot control theheating/cooling equipment when it is under DLC.

When the utility releases your thermostat fromDLC, your heating or cooling equipment may notbe immediately available. To prevent damage toyour heating and cooling equipment and to allowthe utility to bring the equipment on-line effec-tively of all homes that subscribe to DLC, yourthermostat automatically calculates and initiatesa time delay before the heating or cooling

equipment comes on. You cannot override thistime delay.

Time-of-Use PricingIf you subscribe to Time-of-Use Pricing, thethermostat displays the rate in effect, see Fig. 1.You cannot adjust which rate is in effect; you canonly adjust the temperature offset value for eachrate. Refer to Programming Your Thermostatsection for information on setting the offset valuefor Time-of-Use Pricing. To notify you a ratechange will be occurring, the Time-of-Useindicator on the thermostat begins blinking one-half hour before the rate change takes effect.
