Energy Independence andSecurity Act of 2007

In December of 2007, the Federal Government signed into law

the Energy Independence and Security Act of 2007. The stated

purpose of the Act is “to move the United States toward greater

energy independence and security to increase the production of

clean renewable fuels, to protect consumers, and to create more

energy efficient products, especially lighting”. More energy ef-

ficient product means greater energy savings for the consumer.

The law requires roughly 25% greater efficiency for light bulbs

phased in from 2012 through 2014. THIS WILL EFFECTIVELY BAN

THE SALE OF MOST CURRENT INCANDESCENT LIGHT BULBS.

Under the law, current incandescent bulbs that produce 310-2600

lumens of light will in effect be phased out between 2012 and

2014. Bulbs outside this range (roughly light bulbs currently less

than 40 watts or more than 150 watts but less than 310 watts)

are exempt from the ban.

Lighting counts for 22% of the total U.S. electrical usage and by eliminating incandescent bulbs completely would save $18 billion per year.

LED stands for Light-Emitting Diode. A light-emitting diode is a semi-

conductor light source. When an LED is switched on, electrons are able to

recombine with holes within the device, releasing energy in the form of

photons. This is what produces light.

What is an LED Lamp?A light-emitting diode lamp is a solid-state lamp that uses light-emitting

diodes (LED’s) as a source of light.

Since the light output of individual led’s is small compared to incandescent

lamps, multiple diodes are often used together. In recent years, as diode

technology has improved, high power LED’s make it possible to replace

other lamps with led lamps. LED’s are up to 80% more efficient than incan-

descent lamps and last up to 50,000 hours; they are now the perfect choice

for illuminating your home or business.

Tips for Installing Kimberly Flex Light

Kimberly LED Flex Lighting not only is a multi-purpose, highly energy efficient product, but it is also very easy to install.

Each section of Flex Light has 3M brand 2-sided tape on the back to attach product to most surfaces. Flexible mounting clips also come with each section of Flex in case 2-sided tape is not the best option.

Each section of Flex Light also comes with male and female connectors at opposite ends to connect multiple sections together.

Flex light is also field cuttable. Once you are at the end of your run, you can cut off the excess flex light strip. There is a visible white line after every third LED to indicate where it is safe for you to cut.
