Theme : Energizing India over the next decade: Access, Inclusiveness Sustainability

As the Indian economy continues to grow, the energy consumption per capita is also increasing. Recent initiatives of the Government in the past two years are expanding energy access to a wider section of the population in an affordable manner, for example rural electrification and push on PNG and LPG adoption. Vehicle ownership is currently at cars per population and is expected to grow to - in next - years. The deregulation of HSD prices was a significant step in the past two years which is seeing the return of private sector players into fuel retailing

In addition, the interface of energy providers with their customers is also undergoing significant change. Oil marketing companies are launching mobile apps and customer interface in LPG has been revolutionized by Aadhaar enabled Direct Benefits Transfer. With the growth of rooftop solar, energy storage and bi-directional smart metering, electricity consumers of the future could also be energy sellers and traders.

The future landscape of energy retailing in India could potentially look very different compared to the present. The Special Track on Fuel Retailing Energizing India over the next decade: Access, Inclusiveness Sustainability at Petrotech will assess key trends which will shape this landscape and the implications for traditional and emerging business models
