Work Force Management2006 WFM1G Vehicle set up schema - MAKE solutions

The setting up schema is the same for all the car types. Only the kits vary, having different cable lengths, different cable deployment and different tablet PC docking station that may be light (uncovered and more compact) or strong (with the tablet fully covered and more bulky).

In-dash MonitorIt’s a touch-screen monitor that replicates the Tablet PC screen inserted into the docking station. It also contains all the components for GPS and GPRS operation.

Docking-stationIt’s the mechanical and electrical frame which houses the Tablet PC. It provides the low voltage supply, video, audio and USB connections to the in-dash monitor.

• The WFM2G mobile devices adopted in I&N are consumer device and the percentage of breakages it issatisfactory also if it is compared to the WFM1G rugged devices: it’s about 3,2 times less (1,26% vs. 4%on monthly basis).

• 102 WFM2G device were lost or stolen in 2014 (about 1,1% on yearly basis): it’s about the sameaverage of WFM1G.

A EAS Pilot has been developed in order to avoid forms, nowadays printed and signed on paper, introducing electronic

ones with signing fields that can be filled via the Note stylus. The forms are delivered on the Mobile devices and once

filled and signed they are sent back to the Central System, available for long term storage and suitable to be sent to the

customer. Main advantages of the EAS are:

•No paper

•No time wasting for the technicians to get in advanced the paper forms

•No need of printing device to be used on field;

•No more form filling by hand on the field;

•Documents are immediately available on the systems;

•Zeroing back office work such scanning, paper archiving, data entry of handwritten information.

Smartphones capabilities enabled new and innovative applications development helpful in an Energy Utility scenario like

ENEL I&N. One of this is ARNet, and Augmented Reality application based on the NetNavSP cartography information.

This app has been delivered since 2013 and now is deployed over 11.000 devices. It's really useful to retrieve

underground substations or whatever net element difficult to find. This happened in Italy both in 2013 Sardinia floods and

in this winter heavy snow storm that hitted northern Italy. Here what a field technician reported over the smartphone

usage:… I confirm that it has proved to be essential and in managing emergency outages due snow I daresay fundamental forall and particularly on:•Shooting photos and real time news exchanges, via e-mail, helping in damages evaluation and real time interventions.•Using ARNet to direct (I was able to test it myself during a night line inspection while a heavy fog was coveringeverything)•Coordination with the colleagues coming from other regions to give us support, being capable to transfer Net data fromour smartphones to their own ones and let them be ready to operate autonomously in a real short time.

Augmented Reality has been used in training too, allowing to give contents concerning high complexity devices.

So in the last months a prototype has been developed. If the tests will be positive in the next months it could turn into a

Pilot in order to help the new MT fault detection devices (called RDGM).

Just pointing at the device all the substantial elements previously defined, like switches, buttons, plugs etc., will be

automatically recognized and highlighted on the smartphone screen.

When the technician touches over the display one of the element, showed overlaying the focused device, the multimedia

content starts. This can be a simple PDF document as well as a whole video capable to show, step by step, installation or

usage.
