At Endustra Filter ManufacturersInc., team members are driven to keepthe company successful, Presi dentRobert Geyer says. “Everyone whoworks here believes in what we’redoing,” he says. “We’ve been blessedwith great people who all push in thesame direction and keep that wheelmoving forward.”Based in Schererville, Ind.,

Endustra manufactures intake filtersand filter silencers, as well as replace-ment intake filter elements and dust-collector cartridges. Geyer notes thatits products are used in virtually anyapplication requiring air supplied byblowers, centrifugal air compressorsand industrial fans. “These marketsinclude energy, steel and petrochemi-cal production; municipal and indus-trial wastewater treatment; potablewater treatment; electronics [manu-facturing], bottling, baking – the listis virtually endless,” he says.Geyer’s father, Robert E. Geyer II,

founded the company in 1968. “Westarted as an industrial supplier to thelocal steel industry, and then beganmanufacturing as Endustra in 1971,”the younger Geyer says. “We devel-oped a distribution and manufactur-er’s representative network in thelate 70s and 80s.” Today, all of the company’s opera-

tions take place in its 50,000-square-foot facility in Schererville, Geyersays. “All of our engineering, R&D,sales, manufacturing and warehous-ing takes place right here,” he says.“More than 99 percent of our rawmaterials are manufactured in theUnited States.” Additionally, Endustra employs a

staff that has virtually no turnover.

“Most of our associates have beenhere more than 10 years,” Geyer says,noting that the company has reward-ed that employee loyalty with profit-sharing programs.However, “The real credit, I think,

the labeling on the box, our customersrecognize our filters as a Paxton prod-uct with Enduralast® technology.Endustra designed and built the prod-uct that I needed.”

Waving the FlagEndustra’s flagship line of products isits Tri-Vent® Series of intake filtersand filter silencers, which “offer per-formance and value that leapfrogother existing intake filter technolo-gies,” Geyer says. He adds that theproducts reduce inlet filter energyconsumption by up to 50 percentover competitive products, withoutcompromising their efficiency.He adds that he is extremely proud

of the Tri-Vent Series TK ManifoldIntake Silencers, the latest additionto the line. “Essentially, we have

applied our patented Tri-Vent tech-nology to high-capacity applications,previously beyond the reach of car-tridge filters,” he says.For instance, what would take eight

to 12 heavy panel filters in an olderdesign requires only two lightweightcartridges with the Series TK prod-ucts, Geyer says. In addition, “The filters are small-

er, lighter in weight and include all ofthe proven performance benefits ofour single cartridge design,” Geyercontinues, “reducing energy con-

sumption by enough to pay for the fil-ter in a year.”Additionally, the TK design makes

in the marketplace, and we no longerhave filtration-related warrantyclaims. When we use Endustra, wesimply don’t have problems.” Saving energy has been an area of

focus for Endustra for a long time,Geyer adds. “When ‘green’ was thecolor of money, as opposed to an in -dustry buzzword, Endustra recog-nized that energy costs easily exceed-ed filter costs in most industrial andmunicipal wastewater applications,”he says.“Reducing the energy consump-

tion of a 75- or 100-horsepower motorby only 1 percent would pay for abrand new filter housing every singleyear,” he says. “The Tri-Vent, on aver-age, reduces power consumption by 4to 5 percent. As a result, energy sav-ings alone pays for a Tri-Vent in lessthan a year.”

Keeping CommittedLooking ahead, “We’re going to stickto our guns,” Geyer says, explainingthat Endustra is committed to manu-facturing. “We have products nowthat other companies don’t have.We’re able to do things that othercompanies are unable to do in the fil-ter industry.”Although Endustra has not en -

countered competition from over-seas, “I suspect we will someday, andI suspect that we will be able to com-pete,” he says, noting Endustra con-tinuously reinvests in its operations.“Since 2003, we have completely

retooled the plant and already we areupgrading some of that relatively newequipment,” he says, adding that thecompany recently purchased CNCmachines. “We see Endustra as ‘thefuture of filtration,’ and that means

filtration is our future, too. We arealready at work on a successor to theTri-Vent Series because we know thatwhile we may have industry-leadingperformance today, we cannot affordto coast.”In addition, “I think there’s still a

future for manufacturing in the UnitedStates,” Geyer continues. “We’ll haveto keep making things that the rest ofthe world hasn’t figured out yet.” mt
