The art and science of endodontics are currentlyundergoing many exciting changes. Recentadvances in biology, technology, diagnosis,materials and techniques have significantlyenhanced the way in which endodontic treatment isbeing performed. Appropriate assessment ofendodontic treatment outcome is crucial for caseselection and treatment decision-making. Therefore,prior to selection of treatment option, correctdiagnosis and realistic risk assessment should bedone.

It has been recognized that when indicated,endodontic treatment is a predictable treatmentmodality with excellent long-term success rate. Thedecision of treating teeth with compromisedprognosis versus their replacement with dentalimplants should be evidence-based and rely onsound principles of modern practice.

This one-day course includes updates on currenttopics in endodontics and provides you, theclinician, with more knowledge and tools to betterevaluate endodontic cases and to apply evidence-based endodontic treatment with more predictableresults and greater patient acceptance.

SynopsisSynopsis

Thomas Levy, DDS, MS Dr. Levy received his DDS degree from theUniversity of the Pacific in 1975. He wasawarded his certificate in Endodontologyand a master’s degree in Oral Biology fromTemple University in 1978. Dr. Levypracticed in Stockton, California for 23 yearswhile teaching part-time at University of thePacific. In 2001, he joined the USC. In 2008,

he became an associate professor and the Director of theEndodontic Clinics. Dr. Levy is involved in undergraduate andgraduate endodontic education. His interest in research is inthe area of endodontic materials used for surgical proceduresand root canal disinfection techniques. He has been awardedthe Pierre Fauchard “Teacher of the Year” award in 2008 and2009.Topic: Updates on Root Canal Irrigation and Disinfection and

John Munce, D.D.S., F.I.C.D.Dr. Munce is a Diplomate of the AmericanBoard of Endodontics and an AssistantProfessor of Graduate Endodontics at bothLoma Linda University and the University ofSouthern California. He is a Fellow of theInternational College of Dentists and pastPresident of the California State Associationof Endodontists. He received both his

training in Endodontics and his dental degree from LomaLinda University. Clinical concepts and techniques originatedby Dr. Munce have been published in a number of primaryendodontic textbooks, most recently in the 6th edition ofendodontics and the 9th edition of Pathways of the Pulp. Heholds patents on several unique endodontic instruments andhas been a design consultant for a number of clinicalendodontic products. Since 1988, Dr. Munce has maintaineda private endodontic practice in both Santa Barbara andSolvang, California. Topic: Off-label Methods for Managing Common Endodontic

Harel Simon, DMDDr. Simon received his DMD degree from theHebrew University, Jerusalem, Israel in1991. He received his specialty certificate inadvanced prosthodontics from UCLA, Schoolof Dentistry in 2000. Dr. Simon is anactive member of various professionalorganizations including the AmericanCollege of Prosthodontists, the Academy of

Osseointegration and the Pacific Coast Society ofProsthodontics. He has conducted research, published andlectured nationally and internationally on esthetics andimplant prosthodontics. He currently serves on the editorialreview board of the Journal of Prosthetic Dentistry andQuintessence International and is the Chairman of theParameters of Care Committee of the American College ofProsthodontists. Dr. Simon practices in Beverly Hills, Californiaand is a Clinical Associate Professor at the Ostrow School ofDentistry of USC.Topic: Restoration of Endodontically Treated Teeth –

Ilan Rotstein, DDS (Course Director)Dr. Rotstein is Professor and Chair of theDivision of Endodontics, Oral & MaxillofacialSurgery and Orthodontics and AssociateDean of Continuing Education at the OstrowSchool of Dentistry of USC. He was Chair ofthe Research Committee of the InternationalFederation of Endodontic Associations, past

member of the Research and Scientific Affairs Committee ofthe American Association of Endodontists, and past Presidentof the Southern California Academy of Endodontics. Dr.Rotstein published more than 100 papers and textbookchapters in the dental literature, has served on editorialboards of dental and endodontic journals and has lecturedextensively nationally and internationally in more than 20countries.Topic: Outcome of Endodontic Treatment
