We engage in policy issues that positively impact the commercial

TREC’s Political Action Committee (PAC) is crucial to helping us

amplify our voices, support candidates, and impact policy. Our

Public Policy Committee addresses issues including transportation,

affordable housing, economic mobility, and development.

Public Policy Committee members research and analyze policy

recommendations, and together with the PAC help set the course of

action for TREC to lead.

Policy Briefings Attend policy briefings with our region’s elected officials and provide feedback as an active member of the Public Policy Committee or PAC.

PAC Candidate Interviews Participate in interviews with candidates for public office and vote to support candidates who are aligned with TREC’s policy vision. OPEN TO PAC MEMBERS

TREC Think Tank TREC Think Tank analyzes all parts of the Dallas and regional community, identifying city-planning initiatives for 10, 25, and 50 years from now. TREC Think Tank reports back to the PPC and the TREC board with vision statements and action items. THIS PROGRAM IS APPLICATION-BASED

COMMUNITY INVESTMENT

Dallas Catalyst ProjectThe ongoing Dallas Catalyst Project is a community-driven partnership between TREC Foundation, Cornerstone Baptist Church, St. Philip’s School and Community Center, and CitySquare to revitalize the Forest District neighborhood in South Dallas. TREC Foundation has committed more than $2.5 million over three years, as well as professional services toward catalytic real estate projects and community engagement initiatives within the neighborhood to help ensure the Forest District reaches its full potential. Dallas Collaborative for Equitable DevelopmentIn October 2019, TREC Community Fund received one of seven investments nationwide from JPMorgan Chase & Co.’s Partnerships for Raising Opportunity in Neighborhoods program to lead the Dallas Collaborative for Equitable Development (DCED). In partnership with the Dallas County Community College District (DCCCD) Education & Innovation HUB, LiftFund, and the Texas Mezzanine Fund, the DCED will develop affordable housing options and create jobs, workforce training programs, and community ownership and leadership opportunities in The Bottom, West Dallas-Census Tract 205, and Forest District neighborhoods.

TREC FoundationFor more than 25 years, The Real Estate Council Foundation has served as the philanthropic arm of The Real Estate Council. As a 501 (c)(3) organization, The Real Estate Council Foundation seeks to strengthen the Dallas community through good works in neighborhood revitalization, education, housing, job creation, and the environment. The Real Estate Council Foundation has contributed more than $13 million in grant funds to more than 150 nonprofit community organizations supported by pro bono professional services from TREC’s members and their companies.

TREC Community FundThe Real Estate Council Community Fund is a 501 (c)(3) organization and a certified Community Development Financial Institution by the U.S. Department of the Treasury. TREC Community Fund offers access to capital and technical assistance to nonprofit and for-profit organizations in Dallas and Collin County for commercial real estate projects benefiting low and moderate-income families and their communities. With flexible loans and development services, TREC Community Fund provides individuals and organizations with the tools they need to build the communities they envision.

With funds raised from Casino Night, the Young Guns Foundation Project supports local nonprofits and makes a lasting impact. Recent projects include renovations to the Martin Luther King Jr. Learning Center and Aberg Center for Literacy.OPEN TO YOUNG GUNS

Fundraising CommitteeThis committee meets quarterly and is responsible for overall fundraising efforts, guidance on promotional resources, and initiating connections and partnerships outside of TREC membership for financial support of TREC Foundation and TREC Community Fund initiatives.
