The long-standing relationship between the two companies

started when Ericsson collaborated with Enditel, Endesa’s

telecommunications services subsidiary, on the Strategic

Plan for Telecommunications Development in 2000.

Ericsson went on to buy Enditel in 2004 and then, in

2005, took on a series of contracts to become the leading

supplier of telecommunication services for Endesa’s private

network. This allows Ericsson to contribute directly to the

optimization, technical updating and growth of Endesa’s

telecommunications network. Cutting-edge technologies

have been introduced and processes have been optimized

to create a network that is now ready to face the

technological and competitive landscape of the future.

Ericsson’s responsibilities include the management of

Endesa’s telecommunications network in Spain through

Managed Services, including network deployment, operation,

maintenance, installation, and field operations. Manuel Marín,

Chief Operating Officer, Endesa Servicios explains why

Ericsson: “It is key to understand the huge impact of

telecommunications in our company processes. Firstly

Ericsson supports our development with its experience of

telecommunications in energy companies, then the services will

be extended to the maintenance and network management.”

The relationship continues to grow and Endesa’s ever-

increasing confidence in Ericsson’s capabilities is due

to consistent operational excellence and fulfillment of

commitments. Maurici Garcia, Business Support, Enterprise

Services, Ericsson comments: “You don’t get this kind of

business overnight and you can only gain the customer’s

confidence with hard work. As with all Managed Services

relationships, you have to be very dedicated.”

Ericsson and Endesa take a very holistic approach to the

partnership and Ericsson delivers a complete solution. A

key benefit for Endesa is that as a network owner it always

needs the latest technologies and Ericsson’s expertise is

on hand to provide this. Because Ericsson has taken on

multiple contracts, Endesa has been able to simplify its

management and achieve significant cost savings. Ericsson

is now managing all third party products, provided by

a range of vendors including Teltronic, ECI, Newbridge,

Alcatel, Philips, Siemens, Cisco and Nokia. The improved

network eases Endesa’s day-to-day operations and allows

the management of its electrical network in a more secure

and efficient way, which is crucial to its core business.

Endesa is now embarking on an ambitious worldwide

project, named Globaliza IT. Ericsson is already onboard

with the project at this early stage, providing Managed

Services, including Network and Technology Consulting

and Network Deployment & Integration. Joaquim Ruiz,

Endesa Global Account Director, Ericsson remarks: “As

a global solutions provider, Ericsson is able to fulfil with

professionalism, perseverance and respect, all current

and future telecommunications needs of Endesa in those

countries where it is present.”
