Shark Pairs and Trios Total 21 Collecting Shells - Doubles or Triples

About These Games These are math board games that review basic math skills –

addition to 21 and doubling and tripling numbers 2 – 9.

Preparing the Games Print on cardstock and laminate if desired. Alternatively, the game

can be printed on paper and placed in a sheet protector.

The games also require counters and dice.

Shark Pairs and Trios Total 21

a game for 2 players Need: counters in 2 different colors

Each player uses different colored counters. Players take turns

to choose two or three numbers that add to 21 and cover them

with counters. The numbers do not need to be beside each

other. When no more pairs can be covered the winner is the

player with the longest run of counters in their color. 9 3 4 13

5 Collecting Shells

Doubles or Triples

a game for 2-4 players Need: counters, dice

Players take turns to roll the dice and move forward that

many spaces. The player then doubles or triples the

number that they land on and covers the result on a shell

with a counter, e.g. if a player lands on 6, they cover 12 or

18. If no shells with the double or triple are uncovered the

player doesn’t cover any shell on this turn. If a player lands

on a bucket they can cover any number of their choice. The

winner is the player to cover the last number.

Jellyfish Add Starfish and Crab Multiply

About These Games These games are NO PREP games that review basic addition skills and

multiplication skills.

Preparing the Game Just print the games on paper and they are ready to play. All that players

require are pencils and the Starfish and Crab Multiply game also

requires 2 dice.

Jellyfish Add Color any 3 numbers that can make an addition equation.

a game for 2 players Need: Pencils

Players take turns to color any 3 numbers on the board that can make an addition equation.

The numbers can be anywhere on the board, e.g. A player could color 6, 8 and 14 for

6+8=14. The last player to color 3 numbers to make an addition equation is the winner.

Crab and Starfish Multiply by 5 and 6 Roll the dice and multiply by 5 or 6.

a game for 2 players Need: 2 Dice, Pencils

Each player uses a different colored pencil. Players take turns to roll 2 dice and add the

numbers together. They then choose to multiply the total by 5 or 6 and color this number on

the board. The first player to make a line of four is the winner. The line can go across, down

or horizontally.

Starfish and Shells

About This Game This is a strategy game that develops strategic thinking as students

try to be the last player who can place a Shell card or a Starfish

card on the board.

Preparing the Game Print on cardstock and laminate if desired.

Print the cards on cardstock and cut into cards.

Starfish and Shells a game for 2 players

Need: Starfish and Shell Cards

Players take turns placing a Starfish or Shell Card onto an empty circle.

Players can choose either a starfish or shell on their turn.

A card cannot be placed onto a circle that is touching another circle that contains the same

thing, i.e. shells can’t go in a circle beside another shell and starfish can’t go in a circle

beside another starfish. The last player to place a card is the winner.

About These Games These games challenge students to create words. Common

spelling patterns have been chosen so that these patterns can be

reviewed.

Preparing the Games Print on cardstock and laminate if desired.

Print the cards on cardstock and cut into cards.

Beach Word Maker a game for 2 players Need: Beach Word Maker Letter Cards

Spread the letter cards out face down beside the board. Players take turns to pick a card and

try to place a card to make a word for a picture. If a player makes a word they leave the card

on the board and have another turn. If a player can’t make a word on their turn they return the

card to the others. The player to finish the last word is the winner.

Boat to Boat Word Board a game for 2 players

Need: Word Board, Counters to cover the letters

Players take turns to cover the letters to make a word.

A player must cover one circle from each boat every

turn. Once a circle is covered it must stay covered. The

winner is the last person to cover 2 circles to make a

word.
