Confederate Army to General Grant at Appomattox Courthouse, VA on April 9, 1865.2. Terms of the Surrender:

a. officers and Confederate soldiers were granted a pardon by Abraham Lincolnb. Confederates had to lay down their arms (guns)c. Confederate Army promised to never fight against the Union.

C. A skirmish breaks out and the Confederates win.

Assassination 1. April 15, 1865

A. Lincoln and his wife, Mary, attended the play Our American Cousin at Ford’s Theater.B. During the third act, John Wilkes Booth snuck up behind Lincoln and fired one shot.C. Lincoln died the following morning at the Peterson House across the street from Ford’s Theater. D. The 1st President to be assassinated.
