Stories & Play @SPAPS One of the great challenges for Primary Schools is welcoming our Prep students into the routine and structure that is St Peter’s. We welcome a cohort of over 80 Prep students, some with daycare or pre- school experience, some without. We see some students clinging to their parents, and some who are happy to leave their parents at the gate. Whilst we have an extensive orientation and preparation programme, the school is seeking to provide some further opportunities for our newest students to become more familiar with school. During the initial weeks of Term 4 and leading up to our formal orientation programme, we will be holding a series of ‘Story & Play’ sessions where students will meet with other new students, read a story with staff at the school and play together. Not only beneficial for the students, but also beneficial for the parents, grandparents and carers who can come along and get to know one another a little better over a tea or coffee. More details will be provided soon to those enrolled in Prep for 2018. Another great initiative to help students and their families connect and belong. Sharing is good, except…. At St Peter’s we certainly encourage our students to be sharing and to look after the needs of one another, except when it comes to illness. Over the past few weeks, we have seen a large number of students away due to illness, with the need to send many more home throughout the day. Gastro, vomiting and conjunctivitis are just some of the many things we discourage students from sharing, and in these situations, it is best to stay away from school until these conditions have passed. Book Character Parade

One of the great highlights of our school calendar has become our annual Book Character Parade. Students and their parents have really come up with some astounding costumes.

Of course, our parade is far more than an opportunity to dress up, even though the staff enjoy dressing up as much as the students. The focus is on reading, and enjoying the great adventures, characters and plots that we enjoy when reading.

I commend everyone who participated today. Just another way that St Peter’s supports our students to be the best they can be.

Stories & Play @SPAPS

One of the great challenges for Primary Schools is welcoming our Prep students into the routine and structure that is St Peter’s.

ST. PETER’S ANGLICAN PRIMARY SCHOOL | TERM 3 WEEK 5 2

Whole School Service (Advance Notice)

An expectation of all families attending St Peter’s is the compulsory attendance at our Whole School Services throughout the year. These services happen twice per year.

Our second Whole School Service for 2017 will be held at The Cube on Monday, 23 October from 6:30 pm – 7:30 pm. Peter Tong will be speaking on this occasion. He is currently the Senior Assistant Minister at St Andrew’s Anglican Church, Wahroonga and also lectures at Moore Theological College.

We hate to say goodbye

A reminder that the terms and conditions of enrolment require parents to provide a full terms notice in writing to the Head of School if it is their intention not to continue enrolment in 2018.

Many decisions are made based on student numbers and it is important that we have as much information as possible. Whilst we don’t want to lose anyone from the school, we acknowledge that situations change and this is sometimes unpreventable. The last day to give notice and avoid financial penalty is Friday, 22 September 2017.

St Peter’s P&F

Father's Day Breakfast

We would love to celebrate our Dads, Granddads and Carers who hold this treasured role for our students! We invite you to join us for breakfast on Friday, 1 September from 7.00 am-9.00 am.

Please assist with catering by filling out this quick response form at the following link: https://goo.gl/forms/Ubk5iVlCXFmsrHdA2 or via the School Office by Friday, 25 August.

Students are welcome to attend under family supervision and enjoy breakfast to celebrate Father's Day also.

Father’s Day Stall

The P&F will be running a Father’s Day Stall on the morning of Wednesday, 30 August 2017. Children can bring in $5.00 with them on the day to purchase a present for Dad.

Volunteers are needed to run this stall successfully. If you could help, please contact Claudia Davids on 0425 233 228.

School Banking

School Banking will not be available next week (Week 7), due to our annual Spring Fair.

Thank you for your understanding.

Spring Fair

School Tours at Spring Fair

St Peter’s will be offering School Tour’s during the course of Spring Fair Day. If you know of any families or friends who may be interested in seeing what St Peter’s is all about, encourage them to come along and join the fun and have a tour while they are here.

Tours will take place, from the School Information Desk, at 11.00 am and 2.00 pm.

Volunteers Needed!

Our Spring Fair Coordinators continue to plan the biggest St Peter’s Spring Fair in many years. Please make sure you have Saturday, 9 September down in your calendars. If you would like to get involved it isn’t too late.

A small army of volunteers will be needed, therefore there are plenty of opportunities to volunteer on the day and also from 3.00 pm the day before to set up for the event.

Please call Jennifer Eva on 0421 494 439, if you are able to volunteer at any stage, for any length of time, on either or both days.

Spring Fair - Ride Armbands

Ride Armbands are now available to purchase through Trybooking for $32.00. Log into:

www.trybooking.com/RAQT or www.trybooking.com/299227

Please visit the School Office to purchase ride arm bands at the price of $30.00.

Intumbane Opportunities

at Spring Fair

Books and Resources for Intumbane

We are once again raising funds for Intumbane to purchase books for the Library. The library was funded by St Peter’s. Families have the opportunity to purchase book labels from the Information Desk at Spring Fair. The cost is $5.00 per Book Label, and family names will be placed on the label for insertion into the books purchased.

We will also be selling “Sporting and Resource” cards for $5.00 each. The donations will be sent to Intumbane to purchase sporting and resources for their school. The cards will have a space for families to write their names.

It is a very simple way for us to show our ongoing commitment to the students at Intumbane.

Kindergarten Open Classrooms

On Friday, 1 September, our Kindergarten students would like to invite their parents and carers to view their Evidence of Learning posters and dioramas from the Unit of Inquiry “How the World Works”.

Please come to your child’s classroom from 2:45 pm – 3:10 pm. We look forward to seeing you there.

Position’s Vacant St Peter's is currently advertising for the following positions:

Casual Teachers

Casual OSHC Assistants

Casual Cleaners

If you are interested, or you know of someone that may be interested, please refer them to our School Website for a full role description.

It’s a Boy!

Congratulations to the Ponnam/Maddasani family on the birth of their new baby boy, a little brother to Yoji (KC).

The School Prayer

Jesus, our Master and our Friend. You came to show us the truth and to teach us the way of life; Send your blessing on our School. Guide by your Spirit, the children and their parents, the teachers and staff, and the Schools’ Council. As we work together with one another and with you, may St Peter’s Anglican Primary School be a place where children learn and where all discover the true meaning of ‘Life through Christ’.

Amen

Lost Property

There is a significant amount of lost property in the School Office. Office Staff endeavor to return all items labelled to the children, but unfortunately there are a large amount of clothing, uniform items and lunchboxes without names. Please ensure you label everything your child brings to school to assist us in returning such items. Please note, all lost property will be recycled or given to charity at the end of the term.

A set of house keys with a Nissan car key were found in our School Uniform Shop on Monday, 7 August.

A small gold watch was found in the playground (near the tennis courts).

These items are being held at the front reception desk.

St Peter’s Anglican Primary School is a ministry of Campbelltown Anglican Churches. Church at Ten is held in the School Hall on Sunday mornings at 10.00 am. Please call the Church Office on 4625 1041 or email: [email protected].
