Encounters with Jesus
The Gospels are full of stories about people encountering Jesus Christ. Although the people who met Jesus in these encounters lived 2000
years ago, their questions, aspirations, disappointments, struggles and yearnings are very much like our own. Once they met Jesus their lives
were changed forever. Join us each Sunday as we explore some of these events and see how encountering Jesus can transform our lives, too.

What if we would believe together and spend some time praying together for our ministry and mission and community life
together for the coming fall? We would like you to join us for an all church prayer time for this purpose. Will you check your
schedules and see if you would be available Wednesday, September 7th at 6:30pm in Fellowship Hall to come together
for prayer?
We will be praying for the new vision team forming, Family Ministries kicking off, Adult Discipleship kicking off, Financial health,
Mission participation and Spiritual transformation through all of these!

SERVING THE HUNGRY
TUESDAY, AUGUST 23
Join the Welcome INN team in the Fellowship Hall Kitchen on
Tuesday, August 23, at 2:00pm to help prepare a hot meal for
the hungry. Another option is to come to the church at
4:00pm and carpool to Doheny to serve those in need. You
can then take some time to meet some people from our
community who have stories to tell. You can find out how God
is at work in their lives. Think about joining the team.
If you have any questions, contact Connie Veldkamp at
COME HEAR HOW GOD USED OUR TEAM IN MALAWI
SUNDAY • SEPTEMBER 18
A few days into their time in Malawi, Amy Andreasen sent the
following report, “We had an incredible day with the Chiefs
Ministry on Friday. It was great! Jon and Kelly both spoke. There
was lots of dancing and singing. Our team were the first white
people to ever come to that village. There were tons of people
there. On the way, our van took 21 people, along with our team
to the village. We sang lots of praise songs in the van on the
drive. It was Kelly Huiberts's favorite day so far."
This report came in from Richard Kapanda, the Director of the
Nkhoma Youth Department, who our team served with during
their first two days in the country. “If the message ably
delivered by Jonathan Moran and Amy Andreasen is anything to
go by, the youth of Nkhoma and Chilenje can transform their
communities… We have been blessed again with material things which
range from balls, bibles, reference books, t/shirts. We thank God for all
these gifts. May the good Lord bless all those that extended their hands
for that.”
The team will be reporting back to the congregation on Sunday,
September 18 at noon at a luncheon in Fellowship Hall. Please join us to
hear more stories about how God was at work in Malawi. RSVP to Sheryl
France-Moran at [email protected].
