Outstanding Volunteer Awards On May 3 the Redmond Senior

Center Senior Advisory Committee

launched the 2019 Older

Americans Month by honoring

persons and a business chosen for

its Outstanding Volunteer Service

award.

Seniors chosen for their volunteer

work include Karen Johnson, Cheryl

Magnuson and Linda McCrystal.

EvergreenHealth Community

Education Services was selected

for its contributions to older adults.

Karen Johnson’s nominator Otti

Niami noted that “Karen has a kind

word and friendly smile for all those

she helps in the daily nutrition

program. From setting tables to

helping prepare the meal, and from

serving to cleaning up, she does it

all with a smile.”

Johnson also volunteers with the

Sound Generations Volunteer

Transportation program.

Cheryl Magnuson was described by

her nominator Jan Montgomery as

“a lady of many talents with a

passion for bringing music to

others.” Magnuson participates in

the Redmond Senior Chorus and

shares leadership responsibilities.

She also shares her music with local

health care facilities, adult family

homes and an adult day care center.

A photographer, she shares her

Dental Maintenance Did you know that plaque on our

teeth can be directly connected to

plaque in our arteries and brain?

Is the high cost of dental care

keeping you from needed dental

attention?

The RSC offers dental hygiene

services through Dental Hygienics.

The fee for most dental

maintenance is usually lower than

area dentists. Appointments are on

the 4th Tuesday of every month.

Call the hygienist at 206-948-

7355 for fee information and to

arrange your appointment.

Or ask for an information packet at

the front desk.

Dental Hygienics uses a mobile

dental chair and all services are

performed in the privacy of the

Financial Workshops

Understanding 401(K) Rollovers Presented by Cindy Mueller

The Society for Financial

Awareness (501c3 nonprofit)

When you leave a job or retire, you

have decisions to make about the

money you saved in your 401(K). For

most people, it makes sense to do a

rollover of your 401(k) plan into an

IRA so that you can save money on

fees and get access to a greater

variety of investments. Learn the

differences between a 401(k) and an

IRA, how you execute a rollover, and

considerations when deciding

whether or not to do a rollover. It’s

important to make a deliberate

decision about a rollover – don’t let

inertia make the decision for you.

Life-Long Learning Aging Mastery® Program No one teaches us how to age well.

As a result, most are unprepared

for this new stage in life. Aging

Mastery® created by the National

guide to building a playbook for

aging well and making the most of

the gift of longer life. We take a

comprehensive and fun approach

to positive aging by focusing on key

aspects of health, finances,

relationships, personal growth, and

community involvement. Central to

the Aging Mastery philosophy is the

belief that modest lifestyle

participation.
