Enabling the Extraordinary

Every second of every day a Meggitt equipped aircrafttakes off, our products and solutions can be found onover 71,000 aircraft worldwide.

Our conditioning and monitoring equipment enablespower distribution to hundreds of millions of homesand businesses around the globe.

With over 12,000 employees and 42 facilities we areconstantly pushing the boundaries of technology, challenging conventional thought, working with ourcustomers to build a cleaner, smarter more efficientfuture for everyone.

For over 160 years we have been powering flight, evenbefore aviation was invented. It all started in 1850, whentwo London based Italians, Negretti & Zambra, launchedthe world’s first altimeter for hot air balloons. Thefollowing year they were appointed meteorologicalinstrument maker to Queen Victoria and from these regalroots Meggitt’s avionics business grew.

We precede many of our industry peers and we can layclaim to the first ever spark plug, the first aviation bleedair system, groundbreaking materials that save lives andpioneering carbon electric brakes, capable of stopping aspeeding jumbo jet.

We even put a man on the moon by developing thelargest aerospace valve ever manufactured, capable ofcontrolling the flow of liquid oxygen at up to 35,000gallons and able to close in 300 milliseconds. Thisgroundbreaking technology on the Saturn V rockethelped propel Apollo 11 on its iconic mission. But that’sour history, we want you to help us shape the future.

BE PARTOF THIS FUTURE

CURIOUS?

DIGITISATION IS THE FUTUREWorking at Meggitt has been a fantasticopportunity to build a network, having theopportunity of meeting new people whilstbeing involved in a variety of interesting yetexciting projects.Applying to this particular graduate scheme allowed meto be involved in digital manufacturing, strategy andwork instructions with the goal of digitising andstreamlining processes, as well as working on specifyingand designing test equipment for Ansty Park.

Something I really enjoyed was being able to implementbest practises from one site to another; the scheme hasdefinitely provided me with a greater insight intoaerospace engineering.

I’ve had the chance to also facilitate the beginning of aninspiring programme - STEM - whilst organising and co-ordinating events.

SHAPING CUSTOMERREQUIREMENTSOnce I graduated I wasn’t sure on what Iwanted to do and I decided to apply to theMeggitt graduate scheme. It was definitelythe best decision I made, it allowed me togain valuable skills and exposure to theengineering industry.I’ve had the chance to be involved in engineering andgeneral business disciplines. My role consisted ofresearch and development of future technologies, finding solutions and carrying out intense simulations. One of my rotations even involved working in Sales &Marketing which helped me understand thecustomer’s needs.

Meggitt has provided me with the opportunity to workinternationally and helped me understand the area Iwould like to pursue a career in.

TAKING TECHNOLOGY TOTHE INVESTOR COMMUNITYWhen graduating from University I wasuncertain about the job I was looking for, but Icertainly knew that I wanted to pursue a careerwithin the aerospace industry. I initially learnedabout the Meggitt graduate scheme at acareers fair and it was exactly what I waslooking for.Experience in multiple roles around the aerospaceindustry? Check. Working with extremely competentengineers and managers as mentors? You bet.Continuous professional development and a chance towork internationally? Bonus!

The Meggitt graduate program offers so manyopportunities to learn and develop as an engineer someof which are completely unexpected. I never thoughtthat I’d be presenting technology that I worked on to agroup of investors.
