In all of today’s iconic buildings, glass is one of the major design elements used by architects.

Protecting buildings primarily made of glass against fire can be challenging for fire protection consultants and means many architects limit their designs, but thanks to Tyco Fire Protection Products innovative window sprinklers there is a solution where every floor can be considered as an independent fire sector, allowing building design to further evolve.

The success of the model WS Window Sprinkler is based on its fast response, thermal sensitivity and its specially designed deflector which ensures that the spray pattern wets the entire surface of the window. An important aspect of these sprinklers is that they are fitted with calculated spacing, which means they don’t comprise each other when they are activated.

Based on rigorous testing by the NFPA, the model WS Window Sprinkler has been approved for use with windows or glazing in all applications. During ASTM E119 tests windows protected by our window sprinklers where exposed to direct fire for more than two hours without showing any signs of damage.

Our sprinklers are used in some of the most widely recognized buildings. The Gas Natural building in Barcelona is recognized throughout the world and is an architectural masterpiece that is protected by the WS Series sprinklers. By using our sprinklers, the architect was free to create a futuristic design while still complying with safety requirements.

Although UL Listed, if there are additional local or jurisdictional installation standards/codes for window sprinklers on glazed windows systems, this approval dose not relieve the designer/installer from these requirements. Consult you local jurisdiction to verify if or when these additional guidelines must be followed.
