Children and vulnerable people safety• This appliance is not intended for use by per-

sons (including children) with reduced physi-cal, sensory or mental capabilities, or lack ofexperience and knowledge, unless they havebeen given supervision or instruction con-cerning use of the appliance by a person re-sponsible for their safety.Children should be supervised to ensure thatthey do not play with the appliance.

• Keep all packaging well away from children.There is risk of suffocation.

• If you are discarding the appliance pull theplug out of the socket, cut the connectioncable (as close to the appliance as you can)and remove the door to prevent playing chil-dren to suffer electric shock or to closethemselves into it.

• If this appliance featuring magnetic doorseals is to replace an older appliance havinga spring lock (latch) on the door or lid, be

General safety

Warning!

Keep ventilation openings, in the appliance en-closure or in the built-in structure, clear of ob-struction.• The appliance is intended for keeping food-

stuff and/or beverages in a normal householdand similar applications such as:– staff kitchen areas in shops, offices and

• Do not use a mechanical device or any artifi-cial means to speed up the thawing process.

• Do not use other electrical appliances (suchas ice cream makers) inside of refrigeratingappliances, unless they are approved for thispurpose by the manufacturer.

• Do not damage the refrigerant circuit.• The refrigerant isobutane (R600a) is con-

tained within the refrigerant circuit of the ap-pliance, a natural gas with a high level of en-vironmental compatibility, which is neverthe-less flammable.During transportation and installation of theappliance, be certain that none of the com-

ponents of the refrigerant circuit becomedamaged.If the refrigerant circuit should become dam-aged:– avoid open flames and sources of ignition– thoroughly ventilate the room in which the

appliance is situated• It is dangerous to alter the specifications or

modify this product in any way. Any damageto the cord may cause a short-circuit, fireand/or electric shock.

Warning! Any electrical component (pow-er cord, plug, compressor) must be re-

placed by a certified service agent or qualifiedservice personnel to avoid hazard.

1. Power cord must not be lengthened.2. Make sure that the power plug is not

squashed or damaged by the back ofthe appliance. A squashed or damagedpower plug may overheat and cause afire.

3. Make sure that you can come to themains plug of the appliance.

4. Do not pull the mains cable.5. If the power plug socket is loose, do not

insert the power plug. There is a risk ofelectric shock or fire.

6. You must not operate the appliancewithout the lamp cover (if foreseen) ofinterior lighting.

• This appliance is heavy. Care should be tak-en when moving it.

• Do not remove nor touch items from thefreezer compartment if your hands are damp/wet, as this could cause skin abrasions orfrost/freezer burns.

• Avoid prolonged exposure of the applianceto direct sunlight.

• Bulb lamps (if foreseen) used in this appli-ance are special purpose lamps selected forhousehold appliances use only. They are notsuitable for household room illumination.

Caution! Do not place frozen food on theworktop since cold and vapour may

produce water condensate within its inner side.

The resulting drip liquid may causemalfunctions. Therefore, do not place nor leavefrozen items of any kind on the worktop.

Daily Use• Do not put hot pot on the plastic parts in the

appliance.• Do not store flammable gas and liquid in the

appliance, because they may explode.• Do not place food products directly against

the air outlet on the rear wall. (If the appli-ance is Frost Free)

• Frozen food must not be re-frozen once ithas been thawed out.

• Store pre-packed frozen food in accordancewith the frozen food manufacturer's instruc-tions.

• Appliance's manufacturers storage recom-mendations should be strictly adhered to.Refer to relevant instructions.

• Do not place carbonated or fizzy drinks in thefreezer compartment as it creates pressureon the container, which may cause it to ex-plode, resulting in damage to the appliance.

• Ice lollies can cause frost burns if consumedstraight from the appliance.

Care and cleaning• Before maintenance, switch off the appliance

and disconnect the mains plug from themains socket.

• Do not clean the appliance with metal ob-jects.

• Do not use sharp objects to remove frostfrom the appliance. Use a plastic scraper.

• Never use a hair drier or other heating appli-ances to speed up defrosting. Excessive heatmay damage the plastic interior, and humiditycould enter the electric system making it live.

Installation

Important! For electrical connection carefullyfollow the instructions given in specificparagraphs.

• Unpack the appliance and check if there aredamages on it. Do not connect the applianceif it is damaged. Report possible damages

immediately to the place you bought it. In thatcase retain packing.

• It is advisable to wait at least four hours be-fore connecting the appliance to allow the oilto flow back in the compressor.

• Adequate air circulation should be aroundthe appliance, lacking this leads to overheat-ing. To achieve sufficient ventilation followthe instructions relevant to installation.

• Wherever possible the back of the productshould be against a wall to avoid touching orcatching warm parts (compressor, condens-er) to prevent possible burn.

• The appliance must not be located close toradiators or cookers.

• Make sure that the mains plug is accessibleafter the installation of the appliance.

• Connect to potable water supply only (If awater connection is foreseen).

Service• Any electrical work required to do the servic-

ing of the appliance should be carried out bya qualified electrician or competent person.

• This product must be serviced by an author-ized Service Centre, and only genuine spareparts must be used.

Environment Protection

This appliance does not contain gasseswhich could damage the ozone layer, in ei-

ther its refrigerant circuit or insulation materials.The appliance shall not be discarded togetherwith the urban refuse and rubbish. The insula-tion foam contains flammable gases: the appli-ance shall be disposed according to the appli-cable regulations to obtain from your local au-thorities. Avoid damaging the cooling unit, es-pecially at the rear near the heat exchanger.The materials used on this appliance marked bythe symbol are recyclable.

Switching on1. Allow the appliance to stand for 4 hrs after

installation.2. Insert the plug into the wall socket.

3. Turn the Temperature Regulator clockwiseto a temperature lower than << - 16 °C>> position.

4. The Green On/Off Indicator Light will lightup and Red Alarm Indicator Light will blink.

5. The lighting up of the Green On/Off Indi-cator Light means that the appliance isswitched on.

6. The blinking of the Red Alarm IndicatorLight means an improper temperature inthe freezing compartment. In addition, anintermittent sound can be heard, which can

be stopped by pressing the Acoustic Sig-nal Stop and Fast Freeze Switch once.

7. When switching on the freezer for the firsttime, the Red Alarm Indicator Light willblink until the internal temperature hasreached a level required for the safe con-servation of frozen food.

Switching off1. To turn off the appliance, turn the Temper-

ature Regulator to the "O" position.2. To disconnect the appliance from the pow-

er disconnect the mains plug from the wallsocket.

Temperature regulationThe temperature within the appliance is control-led by the Temperature Regulator situated onthe control panel.To operate the appliance, proceed as follows:• turn the Temperature Regulator toward lower

settings to obtain the minimum coldness.• turn the Temperature Regulator toward high-

er settings to obtain the maximum coldness.

A medium setting is generally the mostsuitable.

However, the exact setting should be chosenkeeping in mind that the temperature inside theappliance depends on:• room temperature• how often the door is opened• the quantity of food stored• the location of the appliance.

Red Alarm Indicator LightUnder normal operating conditions, the internaltemperature of the freezer will ensure the long-term conservation of the stored food.When such temperature rises above a certainlevel (-12 °C), the appliance will trigger anacoustic and light alarm. The light alarm is ablink red light (Red Alarm Indicator Light), whilethe acoustic alarm is an intermittent sound.

You can stop the acoustic alarm by pressingthe Acoustic Signal Stop Switch once.

When switching on the freezer for the firsttime, the Red Alarm Indicator Light will

blink until the internal temperature has reacheda level required for the safe conservation of fro-zen food.

Fast Freeze functionIf more than 3-4 kg of food is to be frozen:1. Press the Fast Freeze Switch for 2-3 sec-

onds to activate the fast-freeze function6-24 hours before placing the fresh food inthe freezer, the Yellow Fast Freeze Indica-tor Light will illuminate. The compressor willnow run continuously, to ensure that thefresh food is frozen as quickly as possible.

2. It is possible to deactivate the function atany time by pressing the Fast FreezeSwitch for 2-3 seconds.

3. Place the foods in the freezing compart-ment (the top box), for maximum freezingperformance remove the drawer (if thedrawer is foreseen) and then place thefoods to be frozen directly on the evapora-tor. In case of freezing smaller food vol-umes do not need to remove the drawer.

4. Once the food is completely frozen (it maytake up to 24 hours) you can manuallyswitch off the fast-freeze function by press-ing the Fast Freeze Switch for 2- 3 sec-onds and the Yellow Fast Freeze Indicatorlight will also go out.

5. Move frozen food from the freezing com-partment into the other two compartments(storing compartments) to make room foranother freezing.

If the Fast Freeze Switch is accidentallyleft on, the fast-freeze function will be au-

tomatically switched off 48 hours later. The Yel-low Fast Freeze Indicator light will also go out.

First use

Cleaning the interiorBefore using the appliance for the first time,wash the interior and all internal accessorieswith lukewarm water and some neutral soap so

as to remove the typical smell of a brand-newproduct, then dry thoroughly.

Important! Do not use detergents or abrasivepowders, as these will damage the finish.

Daily use

Freezing fresh foodThe freezer compartment (the top box) is suita-ble for freezing fresh food and storing frozenand deep-frozen food for a long time.To freeze fresh food activate the fast freezefunction.The maximum amount of food that can be fro-zen in 24 hours is specified on the ratingplate, a label located on the inside of the appli-ance.The freezing process lasts 24 hours: during thisperiod do not add other food to be frozen.

Storage of frozen foodWhen first starting-up or after a period out ofuse, before putting the products in the com-

partment let the appliance run at least 2 hourson the higher settings.

Important! In the event of accidentaldefrosting, for example due to a power failure, ifthe power has been off for longer than thevalue shown in the technical characteristicschart under "rising time", the defrosted foodmust be consumed quickly or cookedimmediately and then re-frozen (after cooling).

ThawingDeep-frozen or frozen food, prior to being used,can be thawed at room temperature.Small pieces may even be cooked still frozen,directly from the freezer: in this case, cookingwill take longer.

Helpful Hints and Tips

Normal Operating Sounds• You may hear a faint gurgling and a bubbling

sound when the refrigerant is pumpedthrough the coils or tubing. This is correct.

• When the compressor is on, the refrigerant isbeing pumped around and you will hear awhirring sound and a pulsating noise fromthe compressor. This is correct.

• The thermic dilatation might cause a suddencracking noise. It is natural, not dangerousphysical phenomenon. This is correct.

• When the compressor switches on orswitches off, you will hear a faint "click" ofthe temperature regulator. This is correct.

Hints for freezingTo help you make the most of the freezingprocess, here are some important hints:• the maximum quantity of food which can be

frozen in 24 hrs. is shown on the rating plate;

• the freezing process takes 24 hours. No fur-ther food to be frozen should be added dur-ing this period;

• only freeze top quality, fresh and thoroughlycleaned, foodstuffs;

• prepare food in small portions to enable it tobe rapidly and completely frozen and to makeit possible subsequently to thaw only thequantity required;

• wrap up the food in aluminium foil or poly-thene and make sure that the packages areairtight;

• do not allow fresh, unfrozen food to touchfood which is already frozen, thus avoiding arise in temperature of the latter;

• lean foods store better and longer than fattyones; salt reduces the storage life of food;

• water ices, if consumed immediately after re-moval from the freezer compartment, canpossibly cause the skin to be freeze burnt;

• it is advisable to show the freezing in date oneach individual pack to enable you to keeptab of the storage time.

Hints for storage of frozen foodTo obtain the best performance from this appli-ance, you should:• make sure that the commercially frozen food-

stuffs were adequately stored by the retailer;

• be sure that frozen foodstuffs are transferredfrom the foodstore to the freezer in the short-est possible time;

• not open the door frequently or leave it openlonger than absolutely necessary;

• once defrosted, food deteriorates rapidly andcannot be refrozen;

• do not exceed the storage period indicatedby the food manufacturer.

Care and cleaning

Caution! Unplug the appliance beforecarrying out any maintenance operation.

This appliance contains hydrocarbons inits cooling unit; maintenance and recharg-

ing must therefore only be carried out by au-thorized technicians.

Periodic cleaningThe equipment has to be cleaned regularly:• clean the inside and accessories with luke-

warm water and some neutral soap.• regularly check the door seals and wipe

clean to ensure they are clean and free fromdebris.

• rinse and dry thoroughly.

Important! Do not pull, move or damage anypipes and/or cables inside the cabinet.Never use detergents, abrasive powders, highlyperfumed cleaning products or wax polishes toclean the interior as this will damage thesurface and leave a strong odour.

Clean the condenser (black grill) and the com-pressor at the back of the appliance with abrush. This operation will improve the perform-ance of the appliance and save electricity con-sumption.

Important! Take care of not to damage thecooling system.

Many proprietary kitchen surface cleaners con-tain chemicals that can attack/damage the

plastics used in this appliance. For this reasonit is recommended that the outer casing of thisappliance is only cleaned with warm water witha little washing-up liquid added.After cleaning, reconnect the equipment to themains supply.

Defrosting the freezerA certain amount of frost will always form onthe freezer shelves and around the top com-partment.Defrost the freezer when the frost layer reachesa thickness of about 3-5 mm.

Important! About 12 hours prior to defrosting,set the Temperature Regulator toward highersettings , in order to build up sufficient chillreserve for the interruption in operation.

To remove the frost, follow the instructions be-low:1. Switch off the appliance and disconnect

the mains plug from the mains socket.2. Remove any stored food, wrap it in several

layers of newspaper and put it in a coolplace.

Caution! Do not touch frozen goods withwet hands. Hands can freeze to the

goods.

3. Leave the door open and insert the plasticscraper in the appropriate seating at thebottom centre, placing a basin underneathto collect the defrost water.

In order tospeed up the

defrosting proc-ess, place a pot ofwarm water in thefreezer compart-ment. In addition,remove pieces ofice that breakaway before defrosting is complete.

4. When defrosting is completed, dry the in-terior thoroughly and keep the scraper forfuture use.

5. Switch on the appliance.6. Turn the Temperature Regulator to the <<

-18 °C >> position and leave to run for atleast 4 hours in quick freeze mode.

7. After 4 hours reload the previously re-moved food into the compartments.

Warning! Never use sharp metal tools toscrape off frost from the evaporator as you

could damage it.

Do not use a mechanical device or any artificialmeans to speed up the thawing process otherthan those recommended by the manufacturer.A temperature rise of the frozen food packs,during defrosting, may shorten their safestorage life.

Periods of non-operationWhen the appliance is not in use for long peri-ods, take the following precautions:1. disconnect the appliance from electricity

supply2. remove all food3. defrost and clean the appliance and all ac-

cessories4. leave the door/doors open to prevent un-

pleasant smells.

Important! If the cabinet will be kept on, asksomebody to check it once in a while to preventthe food inside from spoiling in case of a powerfailure.

What to do if…

Warning! Before troubleshooting,disconnect the mains plug from the mains

socket.Only a qualified electrician or competentperson must do the troubleshooting that is notin this manual.

Important! There are some sounds duringnormal use (compressor, refrigerantcirculation).

Important! The appliance operatesdiscontinuously, so the stopping of compressordoes not mean being no current. That is whyyou must not touch the electrical parts of theappliance before breaking the circuit.

Caution! Read the "Safety Information"carefully for your safety and correct

Levelling

When placing the ap-pliance ensure that itstands level. This canbe achieved by twoadjustable feet at thebottom in front .

LocationThe appliance should be installed well awayfrom sources of heat such as radiators, boilers,direct sunlight etc. Ensure that air can circulatefreely around the back of the cabinet. To ensurebest performance, if the appliance is positionedbelow an overhanging wall unit, the minimumdistance between the top of the cabinet andthe wall unit must be at least 100 mm . Ideally,however, the appliance should not be posi-tioned below overhanging wall units. Accuratelevelling is ensured by one or more adjustablefeet at the base of the cabinet.

If the cabinet is placed in a corner and the sidewith the hinges facing the wall, the distance be-tween the wall and the cabinet must be at least10 mm to allow the door to open enough sothat the shelves can be removed.

It must be possible to disconnect the appliancefrom the mains power supply; the plug musttherefore be easily accessible after installation.

Door reversibility

Important! To carry out the followingoperations, we suggest that this be made withanother person that will keep a firm hold on thedoors of the appliance during the operations.

To change the opening direction of the door,do these steps:

1. Remove the plugfrom the power sock-et.2. Tilt back the appli-ance carefully so thatthe compressor can-not touch the floor.3. Unscrew the leftfeet.4. Unscrew thescrews of the doorbottom hinge.

5. Take off the appli-ance door by pulling itslightly downwards.6. Unscrew the topdoor hinge pin of theappliance then screwit back on the otherside.7. Fit the appliancedoor on the upperdoor hinge pin.

8. Remove the lowerhinge. Put over the pinin the direction of thearrow.9. Unscrew and installthe screw on the op-posite side.10. Install the lowerhinge on the oppositeside leaving the posi-tion of the door un-changed.11. Screw in the onescrew in the place setfree on the other sideas well as the rightfeet.

12. Remove and installthe handle (if fore-seen) on the oppositeside.13. Reposition, levelthe appliance, wait forat least four hours andthen connect it to thepower socket.

Do a final check to make sure that:• All screws are tightened.• The door opens and closes correctly.If the ambient temperature is cold (i.e. in Win-ter), the gasket may not fit perfectly to the cabi-net. As the colours of the wires in the mains lead ofthis appliance may not correspond with the col-oured markings identifying the terminals in yourplug, proceed as follows:1. Connect the wire coloured green and yel-

low to the terminal marked either with theletter “E“ or by the earth symbol or col-oured green and yellow.

2. Connect the wire coloured blue to the ter-minal either marked with the letter “N“ orcoloured black.

3. Connect the wire coloured brown to theterminal either marked with the “L“ or col-oured red.

4. Check that no cut, or stray strands of wireis present and the cord clamp E is secureover the outer sheath.

5. Make sure the electricity supply voltage isthe same as that indicated on the appli-ance rating plate.

6. Switch on the appliance.The appliance is supplied with a 13 amp plugfitted B. In the event of having to change thefuse in the plug supplied, a 13 amp ASTA ap-proved (BS 1362) fuse must be used.
