Keeping our digestive system in tuneThe gastro-intestinal tract is a food-processing system that accepts complex food molecules at one end and breaks them down into simpler components for absorption. The processes involved are complex – but the right mainte-nance pays dividends, and if you look after this system you really will notice the difference.

headache the morning after it will also slow you down in other ways!• Avoid eating too much fatty or spicy food. Don’t deny yourself those culinary

treats entirely, but moderate them!• Eat at regular intervals throughout the day to help maintain your body’s rhythm.

Try not to rush meals or over eat and leave a few hours between dinner and go-ing to bed.

Getting a good gut feeling

Guidelines vary regarding between countries regarding the optimum amount of Fibre recommended in the daily diet. The UK National Health Service guideline of 18g of fibre per day shows a 4g shortfall in the average diet*. Some recommen-dations are as high as 25-30g per day so perhaps we all have some work to do. Changes to diet are ideal ways to improve fibre intake and can be enhanced by use of a fibre supplement.

There are two key forms of fibre, soluble and insoluble and they can come from a variety of sources. Dr Harry Preuss of Neways Scientific Advisory Board makes the following recommendation :
