EuropEan ClimatE SErviCES C apabilitiES - uSEr nEEdS and CommuniCation with StakEholdErS In Europe, many climate services are more and more trans-boundary in character. International collaboration is needed to develop and provide services on a European scale or to serve users at country level when consistency with neighbouring countries is required. The ECAC will provide a forum for exchanging and sharing knowledge on the development of services and identifying and linking stakeholders, users, providers and researchers to strengthen the socio-econom ic benets of these services. The EMS&ECAC 2012 is hosted by the University of Łódź, PTG and IMGW.

Numerical weather predictionThe emphasis of the NWP programme will be on the
development and operaonal use of numerical models:
•Studies on ecient and robust numerical schemes for
super-computers, modelling of processes relevant to weather
forecasng, data assimilaon algorithms and the use of ob-
servaons, probabilisc techniques.
• Operaonal interpretaon and use of NWP output, in-
cluding automac interpretaon algorithms and subjecve
interpretaon by forecasters.
NWP acvies include both research and operaonal
aspects. The operaonal aspects involve the forecaster and
increasingly specic users dedicated to one applicaon.
Communication and educationThe CE programme welcomes discussions
on the provision and disseminaon of meteorologic
climate informaon to society: the media, the interac
impacts. The conference will provide a plaorm to exc
experience on far-reaching issues such as the develop
adaptaon strategies, communicaon within and thro
types of media, customer orientaon, as well as the r
meteorology and atmospheric sciences in educaon and
