Early this summer the Northeastern University Policy Page was launched and over the next several months, new content will be added to this page, including newly revised and/ or updated university policies. A new content management system for university policies is being developed and will ultimately house everything. Any copies (print or online) of policies that are inconsistent with the official versions posted on this website should be disregarded. In addition this summer three new and/or up- dated policies were released that are of note to all faculty and staff; - Code of Ethical Conduct, - Policy on Confidentiality, and - Policy on Professional Standards and Business Conduct. FALL 2014 A MESSAGE FROM PHILOMENA MANTELLA, SENIOR VICE PRESIDENT Fall is in the air! It seems like just last week we were celebrating Commencement, and now here we are welcoming new students to campus! A heartfelt ‘thank-you’ to all of you who helped coordinate and deliver another impres- sive series of orientations, move-ins, and calendar full of Welcome Week activities; your energy and dedication gives the community a real buzz this time of year. Speaking of buzz, many of you will likely have heard something about the launch of our pilot Husky Commons—an online, social media-like web community for students. Husky Commons provides informa- tion, resources, virtual university services, connections, and live event streaming to our students all over the world, making it easy to stay in touch with our Boston campus and with each other. Components include a dynamic website that aggregates information and resources important to Northeastern’s global students and a private community network where they can connect with one another around their global experiences. Students are able to create a profile, find other students in their area (or where they may be travelling), have discussions, post information about their experiences and remain connected to their fellow students. Husky Commons is just one facet of this year’s emphasis on expanded and meaningful engagement across our division. In the pages that follow, you’ll learn more about the structure and mission of the Global Network— an enterprise enabling our Colleges to deliver online experiential professional programs in new markets, through new channels and to new industry and corporate audiences by- providing business development capacity, marketing services, regulatory and scaling support. The hope is that over the next few years, we can take the Northeastern advantage to sites all over the world. I think it’s important to note that this expanded universe of engagement and effort for EMSA does not mean that we are moving away from—or deemphasizing—the core values that have shaped Northeastern into the amazing institution it is today. We have this opportunity to expand because of the quality of our educational value and student experience. I thank you for your focus, dedication, and enthusiasm. Our students and community will continue to benefit from the expertise, resources, and connections we cultivate as a division, and as an institution. Here’s looking forward to another amazing year of momentum! With warm regards,

FALL 2014

A MESSAGE FROM PHILOMENA MANTELLA, SENIOR VICE PRESIDENT

Fall is in the air!It seems like just last week we were celebrating Commencement, and now here we are welcoming new students to campus! A heartfelt ‘thank-you’ to all of you who helped coordinate and deliver another impres-sive series of orientations, move-ins, and calendar full of Welcome Week activities; your energy and dedication gives the community a real buzz this time of year.

Speaking of buzz, many of you will likely have heard something about the launch of our pilot Husky Commons—an online, social media-like web community for students. Husky Commons provides informa-tion, resources, virtual university services, connections, and live event streaming to our students all over the world, making it easy to stay in touch with our Boston campus and with each other.

SO, WHAT IS THE GLOBAL NETWORK?

The University’s continued momentum fuels our advancement in all areas: undergraduate, graduate and re-search. Through our leadership in professional experiential graduate education, our colleges and programs have tremendous opportunity to deliver professional programs in new markets, through new channels and to new industry and corporate audiences. The Northeastern University Global Network is an enterprise designed to en-able these goals.

The Global Network is a coalescence of our collective efforts through the last few years of market expansion, regional campus development, and online experiential learning.

Introducing some of the new leadership of the Global Network which are focused on building the mission of the Global Network: - Nick Ducoff is our new Vice President for New Ventures [see spotlight, next page]

- Brian Murphy Clinton has been promoted to Assistant Vice President of Enrollment Management for the Global Network. In this role, Brian is charged with leading the enrollment strategies and operations needed to scale our professional graduate programs. In addition, Brian will continue to oversee all recruiting and enroll-ment functions for the College of Professional Studies. Brian has been at the University for 14 years in a number of roles, including most recently serving as Executive Director of Enrollment Management for the College of Professional Studies. In this role over the last six years, Brian has led CPS’s enrollment efforts through a period of significant growth and innovation. He has led a team of recruiters, enrollment coaches and operations to build strategic enrollment and recruitment plans while maximizing opportunity for efficiencies in the operations and reporting functions. Brian has worked closely with faculty and academic leadership to support new program development and enrollment. In this new role, Brian will be working across all professional graduate programs and with all of our College’s leadership and enrollment teams to develop strategies to help grow the programs that are targeted for global growth.
